Beautiful place, tastefully done. A little street noise as we had the room at the front on Main St.

Ruby Lodge is a hidden gem
Great owner! I felt at home quickly and was very comfortable there. The breakfasts were outstanding and the atmosphere was just what I was looking for in a place to relax after a long meeting. It's a hidden treasure of Madisonville.

Great city B&B, esp. if you don't mind trains
The problem with this process is that Hotels.com is asking me to review Ruby Lodge when I in fact stayed at Hammack-Moore House, a sister property. The Hotels.com listing was not clear that there are two properties. I figured it out, with help from reviewers, and wasn't unhappy with the venue change. But they are two very different locations and properties. Hammack-Moore house in on Main Street just a few blocks from the city hall, and it's a classic Victorian home with beautiful stained glass windows and woodwork. The hosts do not live on the property and it seems to be a little of a "step-sister" property; i.e., while you have the run of the home, there isn't a running coffee/tea station and no breakfast in the home (you go to a nearby local coffee shop). Some simple amenities such as a tissue box and, in our case, easily accessible towels, were missing. (We found some in a hallway cabinet.) That said, it also was Solar Eclipse weekend, and we checked in the night of the eclipse, so we were thankful to have even landed a room so close to the Totality capital. Hotels.com really needs to update the listing to make it more clear about the two properties. Even my confirmation still said Ruby Ridge and listed that address. If I wasn't paying attention, I would have gone to the wrong property. The B&B's own website makes the distinction very clear.

Beautiful house
I gave this a high rating because of the atmosphere. Absolutely gorgeous house with antique decor. Friendly owner. A couple of important things to note. The breakfast is off site and if you rent the room with the 4 poster bed, the bathroom is down the hall. It is also in the middle of town, so you can hear the traffic at night. I turned on Pandora so it didn't bother me much. Love the decor!

Nice relaxing place.
I stayed there twice, one year apart, for 3 nights and it was great. If you like a place to relax in a house by a lake, that may be for you. The hosts are very nice and the breakfast is simple and delicious.

Had high hopes that were dashed :-/
We booked a room at what was represented on the website as a secluded B&B with a pool. What we got was a room in albeit a very nice old home but it was on main street with the railroad tracks less than a block away. The train came through hourly and blasted it's horn as it went by (it was loud enough to wake the dead!) Needless to say if you like being deceived and not sleeping......this is the place for you!

First experience with a B&B
It was a beautiful, quiet room. I had not expected the spiral staircase as I had recently had hip replacement, but I made it. Breakfast.was a block away although the coffee house was nice and the food great. They were not open on Sunday.

Disappointed
We were disappointed. When we reserved and paid for our room, there was no information telling us the place was off the 70 acres on busy, noisy Main St., downtown Madisonville. We were looking forward to spending the evening in the pool and being near the lake and enjoying the view. Disappointed

Bait and Switch Scam
We booked the Ruby Lodge at Spring Lake, and chose a room from those pictured. We arrived to be told our actual hotel was a different building, downtown, right next to the railway track (trains every hour all through the night sounding horns at all the crossing through town). Traffic noise and trains all night. Landing and room furnishings dusty. Hotel nicely restored Victorian but the windows were painted shut so there was no ventilation. The bathroom was not attached but down a long hallway. We booked Bed and Breakfast but were told that "My wife is not serving breakfast at this guest house so you can either drive three miles to where you thought you were staying or you can walk to blocks to our daughter's coffee shop for breakfast and we will pick up the tab." No non-slip pads under rugs on polished wooden floors = narrow avoided falling a couple of times. Went to kitchen to heat water for a cup of tea - microwave encrusted with rancid bacon grease. Owner basically told us it was not a scam but our fault for booking something over the internet and for picking "our cheapest room". I did not book the cheapest room available and the internet information is only that provided by the proprietors. We were very disappointed and will be sending pictures and a report to the local Better Business Bureau.

Stepping back in time.
Wonderful House. I'ts like stepping back in time. Authentic and very Detailed to what it looked like when the original family lived there but with the comfort of air conditioning. Trains go by behind the house and love that. Peaceful area with the convenience of major stores and restaurants nearby. Decided to stay here as long as my job assignment takes to complete here in Madisonville and may take up to six weeks.

Room was dusty. Bathroom light switch was very hard to find. Shower door was broken, and one side completely fell off. The only clock in the room was on a CD player, and the time had not been set. Room temperature is centrally controlled and can't be adjusted in the room. One bath towel had unsightly stains on it. Toys were scattered about the common living room. Overall it seemed the owners are having difficulty keeping up with the maintenance.

B&B without owner
Beautifully restored Victorian B & B. Very friendly. However, what was very unusual was that the owner did not reside there, so it was just me and one other guest, which I found a bit uncomfortable. Breakfast was at a nearby restaurant which I also found a bit odd.
