Enjoy this charming historic cottage from the early 1900s located in downtown Madison right on the Isthmus. You'll be easy walking distance to the Capitol, Lake Monona's shoreline path, State St, UW campus, farmers market, bike paths, museums, hospitals & dog parks. Two spacious bedrooms, strong WiFi, welcoming living & dining rooms, and a well-equipped kitchen. Stand-alone, turn-of-the-century cottage is tucked away from the street with a private courtyard and parking.
The space:
Weekly rentals May through October, Monthly rentals November through April every year. City license # ZTRHP2-2021-00039. 4 adults and 2 children under 12 allowed.
Cottage includes an enclosed 3-season porch, a large living room which is open to the dining room. The kitchen is recently updated and has everything you need to cook great meals for your group. The bathroom is small but also updated. Two bedrooms: One has a queen bed and 2 extra-long twin beds (trundle bed). Note that when the trundle bed is pulled out there isn’t much floor space so moving around can be tricky (see photos.) The second has a queen bed.
The home was built around 1900, so it has all the quirks and charm of an old home - original, slightly tilted floors in the living/dining room, built-in shelves, etc. Note for guests with mobility issues: there are 2 steps to enter the cottage. There are also some transitions between rooms that aren't completely flat and could pose a tripping hazard.
We have off-street parking for 1 car in a driveway. Additional cars can be parked on the street overnight (2 hour daytime limit) or in a nearby lot.
Guest access:
Guests have access to the entire cottage and yard, which is set back from the street.
Other things to note:
All of the beds and bedding are brand new and super comfy. We provide everything you need in the bathroom: cozy towels, shampoo and conditioner, soap, hairdryer, razors, toothbrushes, etc. The table will expand to seat up to 8 guests.
All guests need to complete a registry with their full name and home address, as required by the Dane County public health department. No guests who are not on the registry list may spend the night.
