We enjoyed staying at the cabin again. Had a chance to enjoy the lake and beach front. Jodi was very responsive to any questions we had.
We’ll be back next year.
The cabin was clean, no spiders inside. Super super hot water. We walked down the beach to the ferry. I didn’t realize until I seen the recent reviews that the cabin is behind an old motel. The view is still awesome, but I wish the old swing set could be removed. People walking by the bedroom window late at night. Still enjoyed our stay.
The actual cabin is small but worked well for us. Unfortunately, the cabin was very poorly stocked and did not have many of the amenities that were listed in the VRBO write up. The beach was dirty with a ancient metal swing set right in front of the cabin. The buildings surrounding the cabins were very run down.
The location on the water was nice, but the beach was very dirty, the chairs and equipment in various states of falling apart. The cabin itself was mostly clean with a few significant exceptions- spider webs in light fixtures. The linens here were stained, thin and totally unacceptable at this price point.
On good side, Cabin was new or nearly new and clean. Cabin is located at end of lengthy, low quality, vacant motel lot. Our immediate concern was that we could be easily robbed or mugged. I made a lengthy video leading down to the cabin showing all that is not shown nor advertised including an empty pool. I have been using Vrbo for several years and this not the quality I am accustomed to having. Also price per night was $340+ far in excess (more than double) of other good motel rooms in area. Property manager would not consider full or partial refund and seemed determined to “stick it to us”. Do not book it without written satisfaction guarantee!!!
Location was behind several run-down, old motels. It was confusing--vrbo ad misleading.
Cabin was nice, but overpriced. If any of the amenities truly were available there was no info about how to access--only communication from host was door code.
Very disappointed in money spent--felt deceived/scammed.
Unit wasn’t ready at the time of our appointment. Beach has geese poop everywhere and run down/broken playscape. Communication with property manager was hit and miss.

good not great
when we got to the cabin, it hadn't been cleaned, even though the contact we had told us it would be ready early. cleaning lady was amazing and didn't skip out on anything, even though we were waiting outside. however, we never once heard back from the manager to offer an apology or small refund for our inconvenience. the cabin was nice, the pictures don't show what the location truly is, as it is in the middle of a bunch of run down motels. great location, within walking distance of star line ferry. however, not the "private" beach that was stated. nice stay, great views, just not worth the pricetag with fees and nightly totals.

Good but needs pest control
The good…
The cabin is cute and is in good shape. The space worked well for our family of 3. Full kitchen with utensils, dishes and coffee maker. There were coffee filters but no coffee as it states in the description. Good amount of towels and toiletries. The cabin has a great view of the beach and there were fireworks on Friday. The cabin is located in a walkable area where you can easily access the dock/ferry or the nearby brewery.
The not so good…
The location is very sketchy. The Waterfront Inn is where the cabin is located. It is a motel and very run down. The cabins sit behind the motel on the beach. Great beach view and access but there are lots of people out late running around right outside the cabin.
The cabin is in desperate need of pest control. The porch appears to never have been cleaned as it is covered in spider webs. Inside it was like the movie arachnophobia- many, many spiders. Simple pest control would go a long way here.
The description also mentions water park access and a pool. No idea where these are. Also the internet was non-existent.
All and all, we’d stay again but would come armed with pest spray.
I'll explan the rankings.
1. indoor cleanliness=5. Outdoor (porch)= 1--I have never seen so many spiders in my entire life, I actually tried to get them off off things and literally within 1-2 hours later they were coming back. I know spiders are more a sign of another food source, which, when outside, would mean mosquitoes, and truly we did not see any mosquitoes while we were there-- but-- it might have been nice if someone had swept them off the day before, the amount of spiders/ webs present would have taken days at least to develop. (we could tell from the temperature of the inside that it had not been opened up in at least a few days too)
The cabin for us cooled off just by opening front/ rear windows otherwise the air conditioning sort of barely cooled the unit. (but our temperatures weren't that high either so we just had to figure out to open the windows)
2. amenities themselves were definitely new; couldn't tell if any of the dishes had even been used. I would have wished for a dish cloth (not just towel), but we made do-- and would have wished for some kind of hooks or towel racks in the bathroom-- I think because it was so new they had not put up any hooks anywhere except next to the entrance, but with beach towels (and no way were we putting them on the porch for obvious reasons! ) and then the bath towels it was a bit of a challenge.
3. This place had the hottest water-- it was a good thing bordering on dangerous.
The cabin is new and very clean. The description says two bedrooms but the bunk beds are in a hallway, not a separate bedroom. We had the max amount of people, 6. The cabin does not comfortably fit 6, I would say 4 max. The bunk beds have plastic mattresses, very hard for an adult. The cabin is great for a family of four, would not suggest more than that. The view from the front is very beautiful. You have to park in an old motel, very tight squeeze for vehicles. Cabin is close to everything in town.
Enjoyed our stay. Location is great. Right on the beach and close to town.
Very pleased. Although the mattresses on the beds are very hard.
Would suggest the following to make guests more comfortable: hooks for clothing and wet towels. There is no place to hang anything in the bedrooms or bathrooms. Waste basket in bathroom. Fitted sheets on bunk beds. Another chair by the couch area. Stools at breakfast bar nice.
Take the plastic off light in bunk bed area. Not safe and could melt to glass if it hasn’t already.
New Broom. I will upload photos.
It was a nice lil cabin tucked away behind a Hotel, not a spot you would think, but the Cabin sits right on the beach & you can sit on the porch & enjoy the sunrise & sunset every day & night, or on the beach in the nice chairs & loungers on the beach, we enjoyed the fires at night, jst need to go get the wood (The Mall, convenient store right up the road was the best & cheapest $5 bundles) dont buy from the gas syations $9.99 bundkes.we will be back!! The cabin was clean & smelled of fresh wood!! Brds are all very firm, Futon, bunks & queen bed.excellent cabin for the price!!
it was so convenient to have a cabin right on the water. we had fun splashing around and rock hunting. it was easy to get to the ferry for Mackinac Island and close to shops.
The automatic door lock gave us some trouble, we had to call maintenance a couple of times to help us get into the cabin. thankfully, the staff at The motel were super helpful and prompt. shout out to the maintenance guy, scott. He was awesome. Communication with the host was basically nonexistent.
Overall we were comfortable, but there were some areas that could be improved. 1. There were no sheets for the sofa bed. 2. The bathroom door did not fully close and lock. I recommend that they put a garbage can as well as some towel racks in the bathroom. 3. I recommend providing actual coffee mugs, the paper cups provided started to burn in the microwave.
I want to start off by saying we did not feel unsafe at all! Some of these reviews are dramatic. It is behind an older hotel but it’s not scary and no one is going to get you. Cabin was new and clean. The door lock batteries died and we couldn’t get in but they came out to fix it within 5 minutes. I messaged the host on here a couple times and didn’t get any reply back so communication wasn’t that great. I would suggest to add a full length mirror, hooks for towels and a broom for indoors. The outdoor table needs replaced also. The hot water gets VERY hot so be careful. Great view as you can see the boats take off and you can see the island. AC works great but we couldn’t get the remote to work for either TVs. Overall we had a good stay.
