The Dyfi Valley is first class for walking and wildlife watching, and you can do both during your break at this cosy cottage, which is located in a small hamlet between the coast and Cambrian Mountains. Wander the wooded riverside footpath from your doorstep and discover the RSPB’s Ynys-Hir nature reserve, which has numerous trails and viewing hides. Nearby, Ynyslas Visitor Centre gives access to the Dyfi National Nature Reserve and sits on the edge of the largest sand dunes in Ceredigion; stroll south to Morfa Borth and at low tide enjoy 3 miles of golden sand. Inland, Pumlumon is the highest peak in the Cambrian Mountains, start your ascent from the Nant-y-Moch Reservoir (14 miles). Alternatively, join the Glyndŵr's Way National Trail from the vibrant market town of Machynlleth, home to quirky shops, MOMA Wales, which showcases inspiring Welsh art and crafts and the oldest street market in Britain. There’s more local history at Dyfi Furnace, a perfectly-preserved example of Welsh industrial heritage. Admire the waterwheel and waterfalls that are within 400 metres of your holiday home, the cottage comes with parking so you can explore at your leisure.
The 19th-century chapel, now an artist's studio, is adjacent to this wonderfully authentic cottage. Park your car at the front of the chapel, the owner offers artist workshops if you’d like to learn new skills! Inside, your holiday home has original features such as flagstone floors and exposed beams…simply hang up your coats and settle in. A kitchen/diner to your left is cleverly styled to create a sociable space where you can cook and dine for a real treat, there’s an excellent restaurant close by and plan your next day’s activities. A utility shed outside houses a washing machine. After dinner, stretch out in the lounge, where there’s a comfortable sofa, Smart TV and wood burner for added ambiance. When it’s time to sleep, there are two lovely first-floor bedrooms offering the flexibility to suit either a couple or a pair of friends, both the spacious super-king-size room and the lovely single room will ensure blissful slumbers. Also on this floor, the bathroom offers the choice of a a leisurely bath or a refreshing shower so you can start and end your day as you wish.
Revel in the setting by spending time in the enclosed garden, where feature planting, a fire pit and charcoal BBQ will all help you unwind. Walk through a gate to the riverside garden to watch for wildlife and maybe dip a toe or two into the water. Along with a private parking space, there’s a rack where you can lock up bikes too.
