"What an unexpected treasure Château de La Ballue. I had booked this stay while touring the Normandy beach landings for just one night. What a shame we were only there for such a brief time. "Quality of rooms seemed vastly different: ours was cramped with a serviceable but not very generous bathroom, while the room across the hall (which we saw when the other guest left leaving her door open) had a very generously-sized sleeping area and a bigger and more well-appointed bathroom. Judging only by our room , I would say it was a little dated and tending toward shabby. The grounds which bordered on the seashore were lovely and Mont St Michel could be seen in the distance. "From our arrival to our departure, Eric the host, could not have been more helpful. The property is easy to find at the end of a small lane with extensive grounds. Eric had prepared a list of recommended restaurants in the area, which is helpful. The room was quiet and spacious. Breakfast was great, with everything being supplied by local producers, which is great to see. Would stay again - thank you! "

"Arrived at farm to find the bedroom very old, cold and very dated, a minute kitchen with minute facilities with the minute fridge already fully stocked by the next rooms tenants and we weren’t prepared to share a 2 ring stove. The bathroom only had a hand held shower head hanging off the wall over the bath. It was only £42 per night but it was not even worth a second look to be honest."
