Interesting experience. There is no on-site staff, but the building is in excellent (restored) condition. You let yourself in with the door code and then you’re on your own.
The on-site restaurant is not operating, so we drove a couple miles for dinner. We made breakfast from what was on site.
Thankfully there was no noise from the railroad outside.
We’ll be back.
Lyle hotel is a work in progress. I am sure as time passes they will do more to improve making it more modern. It was great to get out in the courtyard and to sit in the lobby area and just relax. I enjoyed watching the trains go by and would enjoy a better view of the trains. I would visit again as they progress.
My fault for not asking for more info! Because of my age the stairs were a little difficult but I made it! The bed was the highlight of my overnight stay !wonderful comfort! Also did not realize you weren’t fully open! But thanks for the amazing sleep! Also enjoyed the beautiful and thoughtful surroundings! Thank you!
This was a very comfortable, clean and a unique place to stay. They are not serving meals but I bought great Chinese food made on the spot at the local grocery store. It was kind of noisy from the trains going by on both sides of the river. The manager was great and we enjoyed knowing about the area. It is beautiful on that side of the river.
We loved this charming vintage hotel with unique accents. The beautiful staircase leads to a floor of bedrooms and shared bathrooms. Our stay was quiet an comfortable and there was never a wait for the bathrooms. The AC in our room was ideal on the 100 degree day. Easy free parking in front of the hotel. And a quick drive across the beautiful Colombia for wine tasting or watching wind surfing in Hood River. We look forward to our next visit.
Share bathrooms really! Not worth the money no AC in a 90•degrees room HORRIBLE

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Disliked: Room comfort
Perfect location for visiting the Columbia Gorge scenic area. Great location for access to Catherine Creek/Coyote Wall, Horsetheif Butte, Stonehenge, Maryhill. The hotel was a cozy landing spot for two tired hikers/climbers. The beds were too firm for me, post strenuous physical activity.
The charm and style of the Lyle were relaxed and friendly. The owners Richard and Trece have done a lovely job of making their guests feel at home. I loved it.
