Oak Tree cabin near the Shenandoah River

Oak Tree cabin is a brand new purpose-built vacation rental that just opened in March 2020. It's near our Eagle's Nest, Tree Top and Eaglet cabins and, like them, is near the river, sitting up high above the river with an area to walk down to the river's edge. It's part of an 18-acre "fish trap" location that was used by ancient American Indians hundreds of years ago.

Oak Tree is a cozy cabin with a modern beautiful exterior and interior. Hardwood floors, stainless appliances, flat-screen TVs - everything is new, luxurious, and waiting for your personal enjoyment. The pictures capture some of the beauty, modern design, nature, and open spaces. Take a look at those and drink it all in!

In terms of size, Oak Tree is meant for single families or two couples for a max of 4 guests. There is one bedroom and 2 twin air mattresses, along with one bathroom and a full laundry room.

You're going to love your time here. As we work to enhance, expand and grow this property, we continue our mission to be your weekend river cabin of choice. Book now before your dates are gone!

Clean yet decieving from listing
The poperty was very clean and cozy, however the water had a horrible sulfur smell. It was so strong that we purchased drinking water and you could smell it just by turning the sink on. The river was not visible from the porch, the short walk to the river was down a steep pathway. The river was not accessible as described as there was no access point, unless you count reeds and high grass. The property was very clean and cozy, just wish the water smell would of been better.

Nasty Hot Tub
For the daily price you pay, everything should work properly and clean. The hot tub water level was about 6in low. The water had a greenish color to it. There were a lot of calcium flakes floating around, and the filter itself was yellow. The shower curtain had that pink grimy buildup on the bottom, and the corners of the shower had the same pink grime built up in between the cracks. Please know that the water is on a septic system, so it will smell like eggs when you run any water in the house. The smart TV was VERY slow while navigating the apps (not sure if this was the internet or the TV itself). The location is great, albeit there is construction on new properties. Thankfully we were there for a holiday wkend, so we didn’t hear the noise/they were not working. The fire-pit was the best part. We ended up leaving a day early. I would not recommend using Shenandoah Rental properties.

Really nice, secluded getaway. Had a great time, and the property was very clean and comforting. Close enough to Shenandoah Natl. Park, but not close enough to have to sacrifice peace & quiet. Would recommend!

Great weekend getaway
Fantastic little spot for a peaceful weekend getaway. When we arrived the cabin was clean, and easy to access. The cabin had all the basic cooking ammenities we needed. Was close enough to sky line drive and the town of Luray if we need to get anything. If your looking for a quiet and peaceful mountain getaway weekend, this is the spot!

Scenic and relaxing cabin
From the booking experience to the check-out, communications were timely and thorough. The cabin was clean and well appointed…great accommodations! We booked the cabin with the hot tub in mind, so it was a little disappointing to see that it was older and not quite as clean as expected. The couch in the living room was quite worn. Finally, although the strong smell of sulphur may be an obvious consequence of a septic system, we were unprepared for just how strong the smell would be. Overall, great experience and great owners.

Great property. Very comfortable and clean and the location was remote enough to enjoy some solitude, but close enough to town for everything to be accessible.

Overall the rental was very pleasant. Clean, good directions, cozy for two person stay. Thought it was closer to the water but still could within walking distance. The issue I have seen in other reviews with the biofilm in the hot tub can be corrected with “SpaPerfect” a treatment will help with that as will changing the filter regularly. Other than that it was a good stay. V/r TR Girganus

Beautiful Cabin with Awesome View
We loved the style of the cabin and how flooded with sunshine it was. Hot tub and firepit were great! We also enjoyed the spacious shower and gas grill. We couldn't get the gas fireplace lit up, but really didn't need it. The view of the river from our deck was beautiful and it's a good workout getting to/from the river via the steep driveway. The pictures/description for this cabin made it seem like it was more secluded from the neighboring cabin, but the way they are set up (with no windows between the cabins facing each other) it was plenty private. Just don't plan to howl at the moon and not be heard. :)

Anniversary Getaway
My fiancé and I stayed at oak tree to celebrate our anniversary getaway. It was the perfect spot with great amenities. We were very happy with how accesible it was as many cabins are often too deep in the woods. It has amazing scenery as it’s right along the river. It was nice and spacious and we never felt cramped. We had everything we needed to cook and sleep. It’s not too far from luray which is a plus so we never felt like going out for dinner was some grand journey. Overall 10/10 recommend every time and we will definitely be back

Lovely cottage in wonderful location
Lovely cottage and very well kitted out. The major living areas were clean. We were there in the winter and it was lovely and warm inside. Very slow internet and internet-based TV but did have a DVD player. Could do with a bit more lighting as quite dim in the living and dinning space on a winter evening. Gorgeous location. This cottage is not right on the river as the description and pictures suggest, but is on a hill directly above the river; 1 min walk to the river from the cottage. On a plot with a handful of similar cottages owned by the same company. Great access to hiking, river activities, caverns and everything else the valley has to offer. Would stay here again.

Weekend Stay
The cabin was very clean and great for two people. It is located in a vacation village if you will, there are 2 other homes on the street and another three near the river. While you can see the homes it’s still very private and quiet. A great stay!

Cozy clean but not alone
The cabin was very clean. The mattress was comfortable but the frame was cheap making the wood make noise all night. The porch and hot tub are on the side of the cabin facing another cabin. There is a grill and it was clean and ready to use. The fire pit was clean and the fire wood was readily available within 50 feet of the cabin. There is no water access. If you walk down the road you run into two more cabins on the water. Unless you want to intrude you cannot get to the water there. Plus the hill you walk down is steep. You have to drive back to where you last crossed the bridge while driving to the cabin about 7 miles to fish around the boat ramp. That’s the only public fishing area around. If you are looking for a clean and cozy place to just relax and grill some food and get away from the town or city this is a good place to go. If you want total privacy or want to fish then you might want to look somewhere else. And bring a big blanket or curtain to block the bedroom upstairs if you don’t want someone to see inside. There are no curtains.

Nice place
The cabin was perfect for 2. It was clean and very comfortable. There are a few things that should be in the listing though or at least modified. The wifi wasn't very good. We weren't able to get any channels on the living room tv without it constantly buffering and it was very difficult keeping a signal on the cell phones. The dishes we used had to be recleaned before use as well. All in all it was very relaxing but a bit over priced with the issues we experienced.

Very clean and well appointed. It would be nice to have a bathroom on the bedroom level if you’re old like us. No hitches other than they gave us the wrong code number to get in. Never did figure out the satellite tv though. Instructions could be better.
