The hotel and rooms were beautiful. The hotel staff were friendly and knowledgeable. The mattress and pillows were wonderful. We were very satisfied with the hotel and would recommend it to friends. The Speakeasy bar was disappointing. The wait staff need some direction and the drink prices are ridiculous.

The public areas in the hotel were lovely and our bedroom was nicely decorated if a bit worn. However, the bathroom was seriously sub par. Extremely small size, tiny sink, no place to put anything. You could have skin exfoliation in the shower it was so strong and it sprinkled everywhere. The poor bathroom was the reason for the 3 star review.

Liked to stay in historic hotel. It's old but beautiful. Liked the overall vintage look. We had a small room therefore it was really small .... the single chair is too close to bed and not so comfortable without an "ottoman" .. i know ottoman is not part of the chair but it felt quite uncomfortable but not a big deal. Liked the speakeasy restaurant. Facade is beautiful to look at from outside.

Overall just OK. Room was small. Lamp was broken - which they rapidly fixed. One night they had an event in the dining room, and parking was inadequate for guests. Location was excellent. We thought cost was high for value received.

Perfect place for a short stay to experience all the Shenendoah area! The rooms are super cute, the history of the hotel is pretty fascinating and the restaurants aren’t too bad either! Definitely a must stay over if you’re in the area!

The lobby area is nice looking. However, if you book through a third party, front desk staff will make certain to bring it up during every encounter. We wouldn’t have found this property without the third party booking site. The upper levels had a stale smell and when we got into our room on the second floor it smelled terribly of mildew. We had to make sure we kept our bags closed to prevent the smell from seeping into our items. The bathroom does not have a fan which only worsens the dampness. The room was not supplied with any disposable cups only glass. The mattress was comfortable but the sheets were scratchy and pillows lumpy. For the price and the “historical fee” we were charged at check in, this place is not worth it. We were informed at check in that most of the restaurants in the area close at 8 pm and it was heavily suggested we eat at the Speakeasy in the basement of the hotel. Don’t be deterred and look for outside options. We found plenty still open at 7:45 pm.

Beautiful Historical Hotel of America! We had visited many times and enjoyed eating in the Speakeasy and seeing the beautiful decor and staircase. This was our first time staying in one of the Historical Rooms. It was very comfortable and quiet. Would love to return for another stay in the future.

I was only there for one night, but the hotel and staff were great. Speakeasy bar and restaurant was great as was the food and service. I was there on a Wednesday Night when they had $5 glasses of wine which made my one night stay even better. Would definitely it’s Y stay there again. Don Schroeder

I stayed in a historic room so it was on the smaller side and amenities are minimal in the room. Overall the hotel is lovely. It is clean and the staff is wonderful. The restaurant in the hotel had good food and the staff there was great too.

Fred at the front desk was helpful, friendly and kind. We really enjoyed our stay and the dining experience there. It will alway be special in our hearts as I proposed to my girlfriend during this stay. Harleigh in the speakesy resuturant made our post proposal dinner one of the most magical nights. Cannot recommend the accommodation enough. The rooms was histori, beautiful, comfortable and clean. Property was amazing and breath taking. Great place to relax.
