Lake Cabin at Gilmore Camps on Lake Kezar

COVID19/Health Safety: We will be disinfecting all surfaces prior to your arrival.
Your cottage sits on 2 dedicated acres making self distancing automatic. We have all lawns treated professionally in order to virtually eliminate ticks and mosquitoes.

Please visit our primary website at gilmorecampsonkezarlake. If you would like to be placed on our waiting list please contact us by email or phone. We will try to fit you in!

Located directly on the water, the Lake Cottage provides a unique lake experience. The building was moved to its current location in the 1930’s and has given generations of guests an opportunity to be “right on the water”. Relax on the screen porch and listen to the sound of the loons. Recently remodeled kitchen, bath and master bedroom make this the perfect vacation spot. Maximum sleeping capacity is 9 people.

Each of our cabins is fully equipped with all the amenities of home. The Lake Cottage has a kitchen, living area, screen porch, bathroom with shower/tub and four bedrooms. The kitchen has a full size refrigerator, microwave, gas stove/oven, toaster, coffee pot, dishes, glasses, pots & pans, silverware. We provide pillows and one blanket per bed.

Wood burning stove in the living room for cool mornings or evenings. The cabins do not have telephones or televisions. All cabins have an outside picnic table and charcoal grill.

Unplug from the hectic pace and chaos of modern life on our nine acres of beautiful waterfront property, among towering pines and manicured lawns where you and your family can slow down, have fun and build memories that will last a lifetime.

We are often asked if there is anything to do in the area. The answer of course is an emphatic “Yes!” See Area Attractions for more information. That said, most families arrive at Gilmore Camps and find so much to do on site that they don’t want to leave.

The beach is the focal point of Gilmore Camps. Large, child safe and user friendly, it’s usually the children who make friends first, followed by their parents, and by the end of the stay “5pm social hour” takes on a special meaning! Immediately adjacent to the beach, lift a canoe or kayak into the water for a tranquil ride or just sit quietly on the Adirondack chairs on the dock, keeping a lookout for a family of bald eagles nesting on the opposite shore.

For more action, play a game of pool, shoot hoops, play horseshoes or badminton and get a group together for a fun game of whiffle ball or Frisbee toss.

The entire property simply beckons you to unplug, unwind, relax and enjoy. Not a single summer goes by without a parent commenting “this is the only place in the world where I can let my kids run out the screen door and feel that they are safe”. That’s our nicest compliment.

An Amazing Week
Gilmore Camps is truly beautiful- the landscaped lawns, sandy beach and of course Kezar Lake. We had a wonderful week-long stay at the Lake Cottage where the lake was in constant view. The cabin was fantastic- much larger than expected, kitchen had all the cooking amenities needed. It is very clear that Tom and Debbie put a lot of time, effort and care into keeping the cabins and the entire camp updated. The lake was wonderful to swim in- great for the kids and just a short swim out to the floating dock for the grownups. We can’t wait to come back next year!

Our Summer Family Vacation
We have been coming up to Kezar Lake for 4 years now. It is something that my family, and esp the kids, look forward to every year. It is such a beautiful, special place and Tom and Debbie make everything so laid back and easy. The grounds are always well-maintained and the cabins are clean. If there is ever a problem (which is rare) Debbie and Tom take care of it right away. We stay at the lake house, which couldn't be any more magical. The lake itself is clean, beautiful and quiet. Kids have a total blast swimming to the floating dock and jumping off for hours. Canoes, kayaks, fishing, boating, outdoor showers, NO television, sunsets - what more could you ask for?!?!? We love it up there! Jacqueline Swan

Schoolhouse August 2017
My family has been coming to Maine for 40+ years and this was our 2nd year staying at the Gilmore Camps. I cant say enough wonderful things about Gilmore!! I have two small children and the grounds are extremely child friendly. There a huge flat property where the kids can run around and a beachfront at the lake which is very important when you have small children. For them to be able to wade at their leisure, without worrying about them falling on rocks or falling off a dock is a major plus for me. The grounds and cabin are kept very clean and the access to a washer and dryer is also a plus. The outdoor showers are heavenly and also make it very easy to bathe the kids after a great day at the lake. Overall, the vibe is a laid back, gorgeous atmosphere. The views of the mountains and lake are breathtaking, not to mention the stars at night. Tom and his wife are very friendly and always available for anything you may need. This is a place I'd love to make a tradition for my family.

Favorite week of the year!
We are counting the days until our next visit! This is one of our favorite family vacations. Time to unplug and experience a true lake adventure: swimming to the dock, kayaking to our favorite ice cream shop, fishing at sunset, listening to the loons, and watching the bald eagles soar. Tom and Deb provide pristine accommodations. We never say "goodbye," for us it's "see you next year."

Exceptional Blend of Nature & Friendly Atmoshpere
If you're looking for a quiet retreat, yet with other friendly people around, you have found it at Gilmore Camps on beautiful KezarLake in southern Maine. Tom & Debbie are the ultimate hosts as they introduce you to the many amenities available. It's the attention to the small details that make such a huge difference in your stay. Whether its swimming in a pristine lake, relaxing on a beautifully maintained beachfront (while listening to the call of the loons), playing pool or horseshoes, preparing dinner on one of the provided grills or in your fully equipped kitchen, you will enjoy your stay to the max! Shopping, restaurants, hiking, golf... areall nearby. I don't know about you, but the private, outdoor warm showers give Gilmore Camps a "6-star" rating.

Spectacular Experience!
We have been coming to Gilmore Camps for 14 years. We always stay in the Lake Cottage, next to the private beach and right on beautiful Kezar Lake. We have come alone as a couple, we've come with family, we've come with friends from around the country and even around the world. All have raved about the experience. Each time we come, we're reminded of the beauty of the Kezar Lake/Lovell, ME area and the wonderful experiences on offer there. Tom and Debbie Gilmore are wonderful hosts, offering just the right balance of guest privacy and welcoming care and hospitality. The camp and all the cottages are beautifully kept, very clean, rustic but with full conveniences, all with access to the wonderful Lake and a variety of recreational activities. We can't recommend Gilmore Camps more highly, or Tom and Debbie Gilmore as hosts. For one week or longer, Gilmore Camps and Lovell, Maine is a quiet jewel that will likely draw you in as it has us.

Simply Amazing
Our group has been coming here for over 20 years. Our toddlers are now in their teens and twenties. There is such a wide diversity of activities for everyone - kayaks, canoes, swimming, floating devices, beach toys for kids young and young hearted, pool table, board games, books, docks, nearby marina, wonderful local restaurants, days trips into the mountains for hiking, and quiet places to talk, read or simply sit and absorb the peaceful surroundings. Thank you Tom and Debbie for being such gracious hosts!

My favorite place to vacation
I have nothing but wonderful things to say about Gilmore Camps. My family has been vacationing in Maine for over 40 years and this Summer was our second at Gilmore. Having small children, this setting couldn't be anymore perfect! There is a huge flat property plus a beachfront at the lake that is perfect for the kids to play without having to worry about them falling on rocks or off of a dock. The entire grounds are very kid friendly. The view of the mountains over Kezar Lake is absolutely breathtaking, not to mention the star filled sky at night. Tom and Debbie are so nice and always accommodating. There is an available washer and dryer which is great and also the amazing outdoor showers! They are not only great for adults but also make it very easy to bathe the kids after a fun-filled day on the lake. I hope to make Gilmore Camps a family tradition for years to come!

Relaxing Gilmore Camp
Our family have been spending the last 6 years at a Gilmore Camp and it's always a wonderful experience. The grounds are beautifully maintained, cabins are clean and provides everything you need to be comfortable. The beach area is great for all ages. Our grandchildren love the sandy beach and shallow area for them to play. The view of the lake is spectacular. Plenty of restaurants, shopping, sight seeing and hiking all within 40 minutes to the camp.

Perfect from beginning to end!
We vacationed at Gilmore for a second year and again our expectations were exceeded! The beach could not be more beautiful and relaxing. The cabins have all the comforts of home and the outdoor showers are what dreams are made of. The lake is magical and getting out in the canoes and kayaks that are available for use make for fun adventures! If you are looking for a relaxing week on one of the best lakes in Maine, Gilmore should be your first stop!

1st time Camp Gilmore experience...AMAZING!!!
Our family vacation this year was absolutely amazing at Camp Gilmore!!! It's hard to find a place where each family member including mom and dad can enjoy. None of us left the lake disappointed. This was our first experience with the Gilmore family. In fact, when we arrived Mr. Gilmore was there to greet us, show us around and answer any questions we had as "newbies" The views from the Lodge and camp itself are breathtaking. Our kids couldn't wait to explore the home which has an amazing history, and was very cozy. The home even has a piano which my oldest son played every evening for us to wind down after a day at the lake and some of the visiting families enjoyed listening. There were adventures for each of our 4 boys (ages ranging from 7-16) to enjoy. This was our first experience with the Gilmore's and I have to say they know what families need and provide lots of lake equipment for an enjoyable, and relaxing vacation. The Lodge was well equipped and the screened in porch was our spot for all of our evening dinners. Our family actually spent lots of time at the camp doing lots reading, tons of napping, lake adventures kayaking, canoeing, swimming, puzzle making and visiting the onsite game building on rainy days , star watching (you don't see many stars in NJ), sharing silly moments and just plain old family fun. We visited the nearby drive-in in Bridgton. A bonus was meeting some of the other returning families and our children had kids to hang out with and play some lawn games together. We can't wait to have our next family trip and look forward to trying out some new adventures! If you want a place to relax, connect as a family, make wonderful memories, do some adventure seeking, unplug from the daily grind, and enjoy fresh air this is the place for you.

Great Place to Get Away....
If you want to disconnect from the world and relax for a week, this is the place for you. Beautiful property, clean and comfortable cabins, quiet end of the lake, great beach and nice hosts. This was our 5th year and will be back next year. Our family mostly relaxes on the beach all day, maybe a little fishing and some swimming and kayaking...there is plenty to do on-site and plenty of nearby attractions for every age and interest as well.

No place I'd rather be, then Gilmore Camps!
Another wonderful relaxing week at Tom's place. The beach and float were a huge hit with the all of the kids. The woods and comfortable cabins made for a true Maine experience, and inspired me to do some crafting and foraging. I'm a Chef by trade and really enjoyed cooking farm to table in the well equipped kitchen. The Gilmore's are kind, caring and professional hosts, with an eye for detail and joyful spirit. The expansive property was beautifully maintained.
The Mackechnie-Cole Family’s Gilmore Camps Experience/ by Jacob Cole 13 Our family had an amazing experience at Gilmore Camps. We all arrived with smiles and left with smiles. The amenities that were provided to us were amazing. From the canoes and lakefront beach area to the game house and the spectacular lake and mountain views. Mr. Gilmore was a friendly man who accepted our family into the camp with a smile on his face. All eight of our crazy cousins, 6 boys and 2 girls, created memories that they will cherish forever. These memories include, fishing off the dock, swimming out to the floating raft, and our nightly wiffle ball, frisbee, and soccer games that were played in the Lodge’s expansive yard. Our week at Gilmore Camps was spectacular for all of us, young and old. To fit our large family, we rented three of Mr. Gilmore’s wooden cottages. The Lodge, Schoolhouse, and Fresh Air all had unique charms that accommodated all of us perfectly. The Lodge even had two toilets in one bathroom, so fighting for a turn in the restroom was no issue to us! Cousins Jacob (13), Ben (10), Matty (6), Will (6), Jack (Also 6), Drew (3), Catelyn (2) And Chloe (2) all loved the experience and are already counting down the days until next year, when we will indefinitely return to Gilmore Camps to have even more fun than we had this year! If you are looking for a getaway from city traffic, loud noise and polluted air, Gilmore Camps on Kezar Lake is ready to be your next family vacation spot!

Relaxing week at Kezar Lake
Upon arrival you immediately are impressed with the beauty of the grounds and landscaping, and the fantastic beach and swimming area. Tom and Debbie Gilmore greeted us upon arrival, and made sure we had all the information required for a great stay in the greater Fryburg/North Conway area. The cabins were very clean- yet still have that rustic camp ambiance. The beach area had a great supply of kayaks, floats, etc, and the game/pool room provided yet another outlet for relaxing entertainment. We greatly enjoyed our stay- the weather was great which is always a gamble. We certainly intend to vacation here again

A classic Maine lake cabin experience
Gilmore Camps creates the perfect setting to create magical family memories. A classic Maine lake cabin experience with a fully equipped boat house for water play and boating. A sandy beach for the kids and grownups too. From our cabin, we fell asleep to the peaceful sounds of the loons on the lake. Gracious and respectful Gilmore family hosts. A throwback to simpler times in the best sort of way. We loved every minute we were there. We highly recommend it.

The perfect summer family getaway
I orginally wrote this about our 2015 stay: Last August was our third stay at Gilmore Camps and each have been idyllic. Tom is a great host--there if you need something, not if you don't. We have stayed in both Schoohouse and The Lodge--both are comfy and clean, but we like The Lodge better. The complex is wonderfully remote, with a great beach and gradual lake entry. Our grandkids have loved swimming, boating (provided canoes and kayaks), playing in the sand and exploring the lakeshore. One highlight of each year has been exploring the lake by canoe--it's a good trip crossing the lower lake where Gilmore Camps is located and up the narrow connector to the main lake, but it's worth the effort, including a lakeside fairy village built annually by one of the residents. Make sure you locate one of the nearby farms with stands (10 minute), where you can get fresh corn, and go out one evening to Ebenezer's Pub (15-20 minutes), particularly if there's a beer enthusiast in your party. And on the property, be sure to try out the outdoor showers Tom put in a couple of years ago, which are wonderful at night--staring up at a clear sky! Mostly, though, just expect the opportunity to relax and enjoy a family vacation you'll want to repeat over and over. Quiet days at the edge of the lake, peaceful evenings with a crackling fire. Every year, our grandkids hate to leave, and we eagerly look forward going back there this August! UPDATE: Last August (2016) was every bit as wonderful, despite not having the best weather week of the summer, and we look forward to our fifth stay at GIlmore Camps this August.

wonderful expansive property with sandy beach
we have stayed here several years in a row...wonderful place, great owners, and beautiful sandy beach with available tubes, canoes, kayaks...comfortable cabins, but no TV....WiFi, however, so kids and teens can be entertained. It's nice to have the game room with board games, and the pool table, but could use a ping pong table top for it as well!

Awesome vacation place
Tom and Debbie, We have been coming to your place now for 4 years and it is our favorite home away from home. You both go above and beyond to make sure all our needs are met. The Lake Cottage is so special to us. We love being able to sit on our porch and look out at the lake, hear the loons calling and see the mountains in the back round. We have even watched fireworks from all over the lake. The cottage is clean, spacious and perfect for our family. We love to fish, swim, play games on the huge lawn, meet other families, and cook out on the grills. One of our very favorite part is the outdoor showers. It is a great peaceful way to end our most perfect days. We could not be happier with our summer vacation and we look forward to coming each year.. Thank you both for making this a truly magical family vacation for us.

Our new happy place on Kezar Lake!
Tom, first I should tell you, that in my 50 plus years on this amazing lake, I have never had a more enjoyable, relaxing week than I did staying in Birches. Your obvious love and dedication to the camp provide a warm and cozy atmosphere unlike any I have experienced since my family sold our house on the lake in the 90s. I have heard through the grapevine that I might be able to reserve Birches and Fresh Air for the same first week in August in 2016. Please let me know what you need from me to make this happen. Again I can't thank you enough for your families hospitality. Sincerely, Rich Herzfeld
