Beautiful place to stay!!
Beautiful place to stay, was super cozy, and perfect for our nights of rest between all of the activities we did during the day!! Barbara and Fred were super welcoming and met us upon arrival to show us in and help us get settled! It was quiet and just a ways out of the city which is super nice if you don’t mind driving a bit like us. Would 100% recommend and can’t wait to stay again soon!

Fabulous Mountain Canyon Retreat
This is a beautifully appointed immaculate apartment in a very quiet secluded and safe neighborhood. The house has a security gate entrance which is great peace of mind for a woman traveling alone. All the special details Barbara has put into it made me feel like home away from home! From a bouquet of her garden lilies to greet me upon arrival, and other special touches such as the fruit and nuts basket made it special. She and her husband, Fred are a lovely friendly couple and they have the gift of making you feel so welcomed, like treasured friends for a visit. The apartment is laid out nicely in an open space configuration, with a separate spacious bedroom and walk in closet with a very comfortable king size bed. The kitchen is well-equipped to prepare an cook any kind of meal. The property is super clean and well kept. The surrounding area is very picturesque, and gives a sense of calm when you come back from a very hectic work day. I definitely looked forward to that each day, after a long and exhausting work day and the ability to relax in such a gorgeous environment. I was sad to leave, as I had a wonderful safe and relaxing stay. Barbara is a true sweetheart and gem of a lady, and Fred is so warm and friendly, and they both are extremely helpful and caring. They truly have the gift of hospitality, and I look forward to coming back again very soon!

Quiet, peaceful fall break
My son and I enjoyed our stay at Barbara and Freds. They are both very kind and sweet. They were very quick to respond to any questions/needs that we had.The property is beautiful and had just what we needed for our weeks stay. The surrounding area is gorgeous as well, with so many beautiful houses, and trees my soon loved it. He was very sad to go and hopes to stay there on our next trip. My son and I stayed at Barbara & Fred's place for 5 nights. Overall it was a great experience. We arrived much later than expected due to flight issues. Barbara & Fred still met us and showed us around. The place was very clean and well kept. They had everything that we could have needed available. Great communication with them, answered any questions we had. Location was perfect for us. Very safe, quiet area to relax after a long day. The hot tub was great, beds were extremely comfortable. My son said it was the best he has ever slept away from home. It was fun exploring the side roads and hiking areas that were not tourist attractions. The last 2 days of our trip we stayed in a really nice hotel in the city to be closer to a few planned things. We regretted not just staying at Barbara & Fred's for the whole trip. We would absolutely stay there again.

Nice stay in a canyon setting
The stay was really nice. The accommodations are very clean and it's a peaceful setting (with a few passing cars on the canyon road). The hosts were very responsive and nice to meet. The house is quite a ways up the canyon, which is very pleasant from a solitude standpoint, but does make for a bit of a trip to go do activities. All in all a really good experience.

Everything it promised!
We had a wonderful stay at this Peaceful Mountain Retreat. The home was spotless and equipped with every tool necessary for preparing a meal at home. Our hosts welcomed us and even took the time to show us around. I’m a crazy clean person and I will tell you this home was immaculate! The space itself is open concept with a separate spacious bedroom with a king size bed. I highly recommend this lovely home and would definitely stay there again!

A beautiful mountain retreat
The apartment had all the necessary amenities including a small outside area for sitting, eating, and enjoying the gardens. It was clean and large. The hosts were exceptionally friendly. We spent several day’s hiking in the Santa Monica Mountains which were beautiful. Local restaurants were good. We were sorry to leave and wished we had planned for a longer stay.

Home Away From Home
We had the best 17-night stay at this wonderful property. It will surpass all your expectations of a VRBO. Barbara is the best host. She is kind and considerate and just can't do enough to make sure that your stay is comfortable and that you have everything you need. The accommodations are spotless and very well appointed. The bed and living room furniture are so comfortable that we really felt this was home away from home. The kitchen is also spacious and well stocked. We enjoyed the secluded yet convenient location, a true gem in LA. An additional plus is the secure parking behind a locked gate. You can come and go frequently without worrying about permits or street cleaning. We plan to use this for our future visits which will likely be quite frequent in the next few years.

Beautiful Canyon Escape
Such a lovely property and an quiet retreat from busy LA . The location was amazing and the perfect spot to unwind after a day of the hustle and bustle of LA. Barb was wonderful and took time in making us feel welcome and at home (going as far as to fly the Canadian flag during our time there). We’ll stay here again!
Loved our stay at this home! Spouse had stayed here before and it lived up to all of his praise. We liked the clean lines and comfy furniture that all looks new. Exceptionally clean. Big kitchen is part of a bigger great room that worked well for us and for having two visitors over to watch a game. Everything functioned well. Kitchen had all the basics. Bathroom was clean and worked great. Bed was comfortable. Walk-in closet off bedroom worked well for two people for 11 days. Hosts were great. We found a bowl of fruit and a bottle of wine waiting for us at check-in. They live on site, so were quick to answer any questions. But we still had total privacy. Great communication before the stay. We did not use the pool or hot tub due to our schedule and the weather. Canyon setting was lovely. For hiking, we walked .8 miles up the road to a trailhead a few times and drove a mile or two to different trailheads other times. Great views of the San Fernando Valley from the east ridge and the ocean to downtown from the west ridge. Ten minute drive down the well-marked road to Sunset Blvd. worked great for access to the beach, the I-405, Santa Monica, and UCLA. House feels removed from the city, but is actually close to everything in west LA. Daughter has another year of college nearby so we’ll definitely stay here again.

Barbara and Fred are a delight. They let me pick oranges and grapefruit from their property and eat some. They were amazing! The property is extremely clean, modern, and nice. Plenty of birds chirping and I really did hear owls at night. Mandeville Canyon is a wonderful, rare place that is surrounded by nature and hiking trails but still close to the heart of LA.

Stayed for 5 nights in Feb whIle visiting daughter at UCLA. Apt is new w/nice bed, furnishings and kitchen supplies. I appreciated the coffee. Easy to work in living area. Perfect for one or couple or couple with small children. Owner Barbara (on-site) nice and helpful but I had no issues at all so didn't see her between check in and check out. A 10 min drive to/fr Sunset Blvd on good well marked road. Hiking trails on up the road about 0.8 miles. Thanks for the wonderful stay. Jon
