VACATION LIVING | ENGLENOOK

This home is a unique and rare find! Built in 1926 as an artist studio, it exemplifies the classic California experience. Surrounded by mature trees and dense nature, you will appreciate the calm and the privacy that it provides. With a huge central window, a 15-foot gabled ceiling with wooden beams, and a large inglenook, this home will charm you as soon as you step foot in it. With plenty of nearby local shops and restaurants, and just a short drive to Old Town Pasadena or Downtown L.A., it's a great springboard for all sorts of activities!

Built in an open-concept design, this magnificent home features a spacious living area combining the living room, the inglenook, and the dining room. With three sets of French doors and a large central window, this space is filled with natural light. It is furnished with two comfortable one-arm sofas, a coffee table, SMART TV, stylish dining table with seating for four people, massive built-in bookcase, a rattan table with two chairs, and a ceiling fan.

Englenook features a chef's kitchen, fully equipped with Viking appliances, including a 4-burner gas stovetop with dual-mode convection, standard oven, convection microwave, all the essential cookware, dual sinks, and extensive counter space.
The cook in your family will surely enjoy preparing delicious meals from the comfort of your holiday home!

The large master bedroom suite is outfitted with a queen-size bed, luxurious linens, a fireplace, television, sofa chair, ceiling fan, and a large wardrobe with plenty of storage. The classic wood panels windows, lining a full wall, provide abundant natural lighting. The bright master bathroom features a large soaking tub, shower with dual head, and a heated floor.

The second bedroom, located on the opposite side of the home, is also light-filled and furnished with a queen-sized bed, lush linens, and pillows.

The main and modern bathroom, featuring a stand-up shower, is adjacent to the second bedroom for your guests
convenience.

The sets of French doors in the living area all lead out to a private and fully-fenced backyard. Outfitted with a large deck, lounge seating, BBQ grill, and an outdoor dining table with seating for six, you will also find a sitting area with a fire pit to enjoy beautiful evenings under the stars. This space is ideal to unwind and enjoy quality time with your friends and family!

There is a traditional drip-style coffee pot and a toaster. Additionally, all your cutlery as well as tableware are stocked. Basic spices (sugar, salt, pepper, olive oil) are provided for your cooking needs.

CHECK-IN & CHECK-OUT: Check-in is any time after 4 PM and check-out is any time before 11 AM.

Quiet retreat
Lovely, old home with lots of upgrades, comfortable furnishings, beds and linens. Beautiful fenced back yard is woodsy and quiet with large shade trees and a nice deck and large table where we ate with friends. High end appliances and well supplied kitchen made meal prep easy. Host Kate was responsive to questions and caretaker Katie who lives near the rental was also helpful and friendly.

A very special place
We visit our family in Glandale and had a wonderful stay in the Englenook. Such care to preserve this artist’s home. The library just made my husband’s heart sing. Beautiful artists residence
This is by far the most beautiful vrbo I have ever seen. We celebrated our daughter’s graduation and enjoyed the lovely deck and garden. The dining area is outstanding with art works and beautiful architectural space. The furniture was so cozy , beds were wonderful. And kitchen was so well stocked. Viking range and cookware perfect for preparing a wonderful dinner. Highly recommend this gem of a place !

Great oasis
I came to this property for a writing retreat and I couldn't have been happier with it. It's quiet, peaceful and zen-like. The yard is lovely, the bed is comfortable, and the kitchen is well-stocked. It's clean and the instructions for how to use different things (the tv, the bbq, etc.) were very clear. I highly recommend this property.

Beautiful serene cottage
The photos are 100% accurate. The property is stunning. It has been lovingly remodeled. The pictures do not do justice to the yard. Despite being in a suburb of America's second largest city, the property feels rural when inside or in the yard. We saw squirrels in the yard every day, and birds bathe in the water feature regularly. Property management checked in and made themselves available, but we didn't need anything. We regret scheduling every day away from the property. When we return, we'll try to set aside at least a full day to just relax and read a book in the yard.

Beautiful artists' studio and home
This is an exceptional property: Craftsman architecture, original artwork, updated and fully-equipped kitchen nestled in a quiet neighborhood with a lovely garden. We stayed for 4 nights and used the home as a base for exploring Pasadena and an easy trip into LA for a Sunday symphony matinee. It was a pleasure to return each day from the hustle and bustle to this beautiful and peaceful retreat. Kate and Kathleen were fast at replying with helpful and detailed tips for driving, etc. Definitely a place to return to.

Lovely home with a beautiful garden
Great stay in this excellent property. The house is spacious and very well equipped with everything that you might need. The garden is a real oasis of calm in the heart of Pasadena. We had a lovely visit. The house was comfortable, spacious, and quiet. The beds were comfortable and the showers hot. The kitchen was well-stocked. We enjoyed the outdoor space; it was amazing! We had Thanksgiving dinner on the patio. We made fires in the firepit twice. The artwork and pottery were nice touches. It was great having on-site parking! All-in-all we had a very nice stay.

Wets Coaster Trip
The house is beautiful and tucked away in what feels like a secluded lot but in reality you are a stones throw away from all the modern conveniences. We chose it as a central location to the two major LA area coaster parks, Knotts berry farm and Six flags magic mountain. Also an easy drive to Hollywood, the beach, and the studios near Burbank. The house is REALLY well equipped and appointed. Everything you need for a comfortable stay in a house is provided from cleaning supplies and linens to everything you would need in a kitchen to cook a meal or bake some cookies. The hosts from vacation living couldn't have been more responsive or accommodating. I would highly recommend the location of englenook and the company vacation living.

Unique and Peaceful Location
The artistic touches on this place make it enjoyable to wake up to every day, and the meticulously sculpted lawn is a definite highlight. Our tiny dogs loved it, and we felt safe because it was fenced completely.

Rose Bowl Heaven
Perfect launching pad for everything Pasadena and Los Angeles. The house has a real earthy, Hemingway feel with lots of exposed wood, a library of old books, a fireplace and sizable outdoor space with lemon and orange trees -- a great place in which to refresh between our adventures. Our Badgers lost in the Rose Bowl, but we won with this selection! We managed with a family of five, but like advertised, this is a great escape for two couples or a family of four. Thanks!

This house is so special. We absolutely loved staying here. The architecture is stunning, with high ceilings and windows and the "englenook" - the fireplace area with seating is just perfect. Much of the house seems to be the original structure, but there are also many modern touches that make the stay easy and convenient such as a modern kitchen and laundry, both of which have everything you need for your stay. Two bathrooms with good showers and an enormous tub, comfortable beds. The spacious windows provide lots of light all day, and yet the house is very private, tucked away from the street. There are many little touches like all the art, art books and literature placed throughout the house, and even a small treasure box that makes the place feel as though you've stepped back in time and are visiting the house of the artist who lived there. We planned on spending time hiking and shopping but we rarely went out because we were so comfortable and enjoyed spending most of our time at the house! The outside space is huge and very private as it's encircled by a tall fence. It's filled with trees and a fountain, a fire pit and several seating areas. The owner was very helpful and accommodating. This place is truly magical and I highly recommend it.
