The house is a renovated 19th century house (1886) built of dry stone. It was built by the Provence Railway Company for a passing guard, hence the name, La Maison de Garde de Passage. The asphalt road in front of the house is the old railway line between Nice and Meyrargues, hence the name Chemin du Train des Pignes Est and is today a link between Lorgues, the hamlet Sauve Clare and Flayosc. They don't pass 10 cars a day.
The house is 3 km from the charming little town Lorgues.
