A great place to experience the wild Arctic
A quirky little town best known for being the most northern town in the world, a gateway for many Arctic expeditions (hiking, cruising, wildlife). You can't go beyond the immediate town environs without an armed guard because of polar bears.
Never got the chance to see it. SAS strike crushed a ski dream that I'd had for a really long time.
This is a truly unique experience & I highly recommend the snowmobiling & ice caving trips
So many options on what to do and see; most tour operators will pick you up and drop off at hotel, making getting to any activities manageable despite any weather conditions. People are friendly and the geography is just breath-taking.
