4.5 stars. We had a great time and recommend this place. A few flaws prevent it from being 5 stars.
Pros.
Price. This unit seemed to be priced lower than other similar units that I could find.
Location. The flat is on a small side street in a great neighborhood. It is 2-3 minutes from two major tube stations and near major bus lines. It is not a touristy neighborhood but has tons of everything, including great restaurants, coffee shops, grocery stores, and ATMs. It is just a few tube stops or maybe a half hour walk from most of central London.
Space. The flat is as described and pictured. It is cozy, but we had 4 adults and 4 kids and the space was acceptable, although certainly not abundant.
Professional Management for when things go wrong. See below.
Enough hot water (although weak water pressure) and a good heating system.
Comfy beds.
Prompt refund of security deposit.
Cons.
We paid for early check-in at noon. We had no lines at the airport upon our arrival, so we knew we would be at the flat around 11:45 an informed the management company of this but they refused to meet us until exactly noon. Not a big deal but also not very nice, as we had no option but to wait on the sidewalk with all our luggage. Luckily, it was not raining at the time.
The first night there, the smoke detector started chirping because it had a low battery. This could have ruined our entire vacation, especially because it could not be silenced as it was on a very high ceiling with no way to reach it. In a rental property, the batteries should be changed regularly so that this never happens, or, better yet, detectors with 10-year sealed batteries should be used. This was fixed the next day with one call to the management company, however, and that is a very good thing.
The floors are excessively rustic. One of us got a huge splinter through socks here. Just need to wear shoes inside.
Although the bathrooms are nice and have ample space, there is no useful place to put anything within arm's reach of the sink. There should be a vanity or shelves or at the very least a wide sink for things like toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, contact lens solution, etc., etc.
Noise and light enter the flat easily. There should be better blackout curtains. Not much can be done about the noise, and it is not so bad because it is a small side street, but it is still urban so there is still some noise.
Really only sleeps 7 comfortagbly because the sofa bed is small.
