The guest rooms are spotless, very clean with a minimal aesthetic. While I personally tend to prefer colour and some personality, the rooms are calming, the large beds are very comfortable, and the bathrooms are lovely, with a massive shower.
Inside the room there's a safe, iron and ironing board, but the one thing we found really odd was that for such a new hotel, none of the plugs included USB outlets, so you'll need to bring a 3 pin plug charging cable for your phone.
Location wise, despite being slap bang in the middle of Liverpool One, this is the quietest hotel in Liverpool I've ever stayed in! Many city hotels are essentially party hotels, packed full of rowdy groups, but School Lane Hotel had a lovely laid back and chill vibe and there was no antisocial behaviour.
Parking at Q Parks Hanover street was a doddle and the hotel is a few minutes walk – I’d recommend pre booking and you’ll get a small discount on the usual 24 hour parking rate.
One thing that did strike me as a little off was the need to pay an additional £50 security deposit on check in, which takes several days to be paid back following check out. This is typical in hotels that have a mini bar but given there's no mini bar and no restaurant, it feels unnecessary to me.
In the morning there’s a small area next to reception with some pastries (which were decent quality) and a coffee machine, which was a nice touch.
Next time we’re going out in the city centre, we’ll definitely consider staying at School La
