This is not a five star property, the photos on the site mainly show the old main building which if you stay in a large suite then it’s ok but the majority stay in the annex buildings which are out of date in bad repair and are noisy beyond compare. So we stayed ten days the pool was never heated the menu was restricted because the main kitchen/chef was being maintained For 10 days!!!!!! Overall this property is good to visit for a photo and then leave it and stay in the center of Lisbon.

I highly recommend you do not stay. Anyone who rates this hotel highly is evidently doing so solely because it is a historic palace. But the actual hotel rooms are literal trash. The air conditioning was not working in the room, and the hotel staff continuously failed to give any real answer to whether it was fixed but instead informed us to go back to the room and see if it was fixed or not. We did not sleep AT ALL for an entire night in scorching heat in the room, and when I finally called at 6am to say something has to be wrong, the front desk told us maintenance wasn’t there till 8am so we’d have to wait and see. We slept half a day away on our tour bus the following day because we were so exhausted from a bad nights sleep. The security in the hotel seems to be entirely nonexistent at night to stop random people from coming into the palace, meanwhile the rooms we were in were both on the first floor with glass doors and easy access from the outside. (I have videos of walking into the hotel past 10pm with no one to be found anywhere near the front gate entrances verifying who was walking into the hotel). The breakfast was terrible - literally uncooked eggs and everything that should have been hot was frigid cold. The servers at the breakfast were useless - it was impossible to get water and coffee.

Beautiful old building. Good secure parking. Suffered a loss of electricity overnight and for most of the morning making use of the bathroom extremely difficult. Thank goodness we had our own torches.

Truly amazing hotel!
Absolutely stunning hotel and grounds. Staff was very attentive. Breakfast included a wide variety and was very good. Solid bar and hotel restaurant. Wish we had more time and had come in the Summer months to take advantage of the spa and other facilities.
