Very compact, minimal apartment in a lovely location.
Let's start with the good. The Alfama neighbourhood is wonderous and I loved walking around it after dark, although I don't know how anyone managed it before google maps! There's a convenience store and a laundry very close by, as well as restaurants, and the city centre is perfectly walkable if you don't mind a bit of a trek.
The apartment itself is fairly minimal and it's really hard to get comfortable in it. There's no sofa, a single wicker chair and two cheap stools with wobbly legs at a very small "table". The TV is on an arm above the bed and while the bed is comfortable to sleep on, it's impossible to get comfortable sitting up on it because of the thin pillows and metal headboard. It desperately needs a sofa or somewhere comfortable to sit.
There is nowhere to set a laptop and work, which was unfortunate for me because I was in the city to work remotely.
There was also an incident where a man entered the apartment while I was drying off after a shower and ran off when I poked my head out the bathroom door. Management initially told me it was not their staff, which was very concerning, but later changed their mind and said it was. I never got an explanation why he was there. It would have been a very different story if I was female and I didn't feel safe leaving my valuables there afterwards.
It's a fine place to stay if you're not planning to spending much time in it, but not comfortable to relax in.
