We really enjoyed our stay in this property and especially appreciated the quiet but accessible location. We took advantage of the forest path to access the castles. The hike was part of the fun and made for a much better experience than fighting the crowds to take public transit. We were also close enough to walk into town for evening dinners. Like most places in Portugal, you're going to earn your dinner on account of all the hills.
BUT...
One thing that was an issue for us was the presence of black mold. The odour is clearly being masked, but after a while all you can smell is the mold. Despite all the good things going for this property, we were ready leave. It's a renovated but old building. Air circulation issues aren't really a surprise in this context. Beware if you have respiratory issues.
