The hotel itself is beautiful, the lobby has a colorful roof, also an antique car, and with a lots of interesting stories. The breakfast is good, staffs there already also polite and nice. The problem is the hotel does’t have air conditioning, which makes me sleepless. The room is not clean, dust are all over the place. The front desk clerk is polite and willing to help, but things still did not work out.

I stepped back into the time... everything i had hoped for and more. The decor, the feel, the atmosphere was amazing. The staff were super friendly and courteous. My room was amazing with balcony and view of the city center. My pisco sour was perfect. A dream come true.

This was once a grand hotel indeed but while fairly clean - good bed, barely passable shower - it’s a bit creepy. The one good thing is the location in the historic centre.

In evening no hot water then later on at nite couldn’t flush toilet ant realized in an no water at all couldn’t shower couldn’t brush teeth called front desk someone came and “ fixed “ it still freezing shower also no heat room freezing all nite furniture old worn out dated from same chairs and shower curtain from opening 100 years ago asked for manager in am his answer oh we turned off water in that section working on that area So you knew and put guests in that section He gave us a 50% discount the right thing to do was not charge us for a room in an area of hotel that had water turned off very poor business practice

Gran Hotel Bolivar harkens back to its opening in 1924. You'll fell like you've gone back in time. Much of the original decor seems to still be intact. Lobbies, ballrooms and restaurant spaces are dramatic. Rooms are clean, with 12 foot ceilings and much original furniture. Our bathroom looked to have it's original tilework, which, while authentic, seemed tired. A location directly on Plaza San Martin means that the hotel is definitely in the heart of the Centro district, but a room looking over the Plaza comes with substantial traffic noise, pretty late into the night.

Jaded grandeur, but a great stay
I loved the Bolivar, although the grandeur is a little jaded now. The only issue was noise from street late into night, but frankly that didn't bother me too much. The location is great - walking distance from many sites in historic Lima.

What I likes about the property that is was colonial style building. What I did not like that its outdated. Bathrooms beds, amenities all outdated old. Bath faucet, tile etc old. Needs an update badly asap. The hotel offers airport pickup transfer. Upon arrival waited 1 hours the driver never arrived. Hotel reception was surprised b/c they set it up. Later have me a strange story that driver showed up but picked up wrong group going to a different hotel. This is not acceptable, a terrible made up story to make up an excuse. Over all this hotel is a 1.5 to 2 rating . Very old bathrooms and rooms. Urgently needs an update. We stayed only 1 night.

It’s a beautiful historic hotel and a bit run down. It needs some remodeling, the people the front desk and mostly all of them are friendly! The restaurant the food is decent and the waiter with dark glasses needs better customer service skills!
