Weekend getaway
Mark was great to work with. Left him some suggestions if things I felt needed fixed for his next guest. Town was a delight and beach was very clean. We used the public beach.

Great area for a vacation
A quick drive to surrounding towns, and located close to a Dollar General store for all your last minute needs. We never found the private beach, but we were happy to use the public beach in town. Having the washer/dryer was a life saver!
I enjoyed my stay and slept better than I have in years. But I never found the private beach access and this was a major disappointment. If I knew how to get there I would definitely consider coming back.
Rustic is the keyword. Uneven floor/foundation makes walking awkward, especially for older folks. But they have a very well stocked kitchen and lots of extras, including coffee pods for the Keurig! Washer and dryer is a great plus. A welcome manual would help with info about TV, hot water, beach parking and WIFI. A little TLC would go a long way to fix this place up but we had a good stay. Property owner is quick to respond.
Property is in great location with easy access to Lexington, Shopping and golf. Property is nice but cottage is in need of some repairs. Foundation seems to have shifted and cottage is not square. Was not concerned that it was going to fall off the foundation but doors were hard to close and open at times because things were not squared off. If you want a cute little cottage in a great location then this one is for you. If you want high end and everything perfect then keep scrolling. We loved the area and for a few days it is absolutely fine. We will book again.

Cute, serviceable cabin near beaches
We'd really like to give this property the highest rating. The owner is very responsive and friendly, and the property is well equipped with modern surfaces, awesome coffee, and a great TV. But...the house had not been cleaned by our arrival time (soon remedied) and the on-demand hot water system is so eccentric that showers were an adventure. We also could never find the toaster, and the beach was more than a short walk. There is a state park beach nearby that is even better than the private beach referred to in the description, and the town center of Lexington is a delight.
If we knew that the hot water system was tended to, we would consider returning. We did have a nice, private retreat there.

Disgusting. It should be condemned
There was a gas smell from the dryer. Lucky me i smell everything. I had to go and buy lysol and cloths to clean. The outside front and back porch were so dirty i could not sit on either porch. I could not cook on the stove because that was filthy. I was very disappointed and my teenage granddaughter couldnt believe how it smelled so bad. I going to callthe City of Lexington and let them know plus I wish to have some money back
I remain. Suzanne

Cute Living Space ... But Disappointed
The living/dining areas were cute - but here's the rub ....
- Tried to use the oven, it set off the fire alarm
- The stove only has 2 burners that work- the larger one (that worked) was bent and the pan wouldn't set straight on it.
- The refrigerator froze much of the food we brought.
- The couch was broke on one end (though usuable)
- The gas fireplace was great ... when it stayed lit (a lot of the time, just the pilot light be on)
- The grill .... well, let's just say it's a good thing we didn't need it. Looked like it was falling apart and was full of leaves.
Overall - it's a good thing that we didn't plan to cook meals at the house, that would've been a complete disaster.
Many things were just run down and the smell of whatever disinfectant that was used was oppressive.
I guess "rustic" was not about the decor.
Overall it wasn't awful, but we would never stay here again.

Not as advertised
We arrived to dirty sheets that I washed since they had a stackable set there. Daily battle with hornets and wasps (flying in/out through the front and back door). But the most disturbing thing was after finally checking my phone I read “I see you have arrived.” along with “I turned off the cameraS.” Because of that my husband checked for any other cameras, just in case. In addition to these things, there’s tree roots and stumps all over the back yard (hubby tripped over one), the cabin itself is tilted, bathroom door will not close all the way probably because of that. We stayed because I brought cleaning supplies with us, I was able to wash the bedding and we needed the getaway. Otherwise I would have contacted Mark immediately for a refund. Do yourself a favor and just look elsewhere!! Plenty of cabins for rent in this beautiful area that are “as advertised....”!!

Unfinished project NOT “rustic”
We were looking so forward to this stay. My kids talked about it for weeks! 4th of July up north! I know this review will upset the host (per his responses on other bad reviews) but I’m being honest.
Pros- mark was quick to respond.
He offered things up to try to remedy the problems but the damage was done and some remedies didn’t make sense like the cleaning crew coming back while we were there.
Cons- the outside (first impression) was filthy dirty and overgrown! Trash bin FULL next to porch. Weeds and vines growing all over up thru bushes and back deck, weeks of dead tree leaves COVERED both porches and chairs, no cute flowers in pot or bike as shown in picture, no weed whipping had been done clearly in well over a month, grass around parts of the house were over 2 feet tall. We contemplated not even going inside because of the state of the outside.
inside porch was not cleaned at all. Nails cobwebs and trash and litter from trees that made their way in.
Inside was musty smelling. I knew this from reviews. I didn’t think much about it but i say this bc anyone who has breathing issues should stay away- my dad who has bad asthma is legit having a hard time breathing today 2.5 full days after leaving. There was no space to put clothes or food. Cupboards are literally FULL of random stuff- bags, paint, spackle tools, nails for nail gun, paint brushes, pvc tubes etc. The rooms each have one tiny 6x24 inch wide nightstand thing as a dresser for clothes.
Enjoyed my stay. Went to several beaches nearby. Pvt beach right up the street. Host was friendly and responded to messages quickly.

Choose to look at the positive!!
The place was decorated cute, bedding on 1 bed was dirty with hair, the refrigerator had to be washed out, the shower was very nice, the porches had to be cleaned before we could enjoy them, the grill was dirty, the place needs alot of work. Tv was nice, good wifi. doors dont shut good
Cute cabin, had everything we needed. It’s listed as rustic which is accurate but I feel like it was partially updated and had nice touches like beach decor, AC, wifi and tons of channels on the Tv but with a Cabin feel. Beach was awesome and just a short walk across the street. Dog friendly was a huge bonus for us. Will definitely come back.
We came up for a wedding and definitely wasn’t disappointed! The beds were super comfortable, it had everything we needed and was in a quiet area. Will definitely be back when we visit family again!

Infestations and rundown plumbing..
From outside the cottage is cute. Inside the place was partially run down. The fridge had a bit of food in it. So it was either over looked or the place was not thoroughly cleaned prior to our arrival. I wasn’t sure I’d survive it. The bathroom/ kitchen filled with gnats and flies all night long. It was impossible to come out of the shower without a swarm in your face. The gnats nestled into the towels making it a sanitary crisis. Cooking was also horrible as I was panicked that the infestation would get into our food. We ended up needing to eat out most, thereby increasing the cost of our stay greatly.
The BBQ grill was banged up and possibly out of propane. It did not light. The whole back of the house smelled of awful sewage. I think I’m still somewhat traumatized to remember much else.
This felt like roughing it out, hard. May as well consider camping. The rooms were ok. WiFi was real good tho. Short walk to beach a plus.
Front porch/steps were heavily chipped. Ash tray on porch had cigarette butts. Smelled musty/not clean. Uneven floor; almost tripped. Dirty feet after 2 hrs walking around. Filthy oven/BBQ grill. Dirty windows. Back deck had used Solo cup out. Bathroom, gross, no mirror over sink. Left after first night/got refund for next 2 nights.
Lexington is a great town. Love the lake and shop's. Great spot for a get away. We have been coming up for years. Nice to see new business going in. Shop around there are alot of places to stay. The cottage was comfortable and has everything you need. Host Mark was great. The location is good close to downtown.
We enjoyed our stay, can’t beat it for the price, cute cottage. We loved the short walk to the beach! Cottage has all your basic needs. Mark was pleasant and had great communication. We would stay here again!
