Adorable Cottage
Linger Longer is an adorable little cottage that had plenty of space for 6 adults. Very homey feel made us all feel immediately comfortable. This has clearly has been a rental cottage for many many years, in all the best ways. Tons of Easter eggs from past guests add to the home style feel and comfort. The guestbook dates back to 1998, and we had a great time reading about them, and added our own little story. 5 stars all around.

Great home & location!
House as advertised. Owner quick to communicate. Location perfect. Very peaceful. Porch is wonderful to hang out on. The house is old so voices/footsteps/tv carry so bring a noise machine or box fan if you’re a light sleeper. I would rent here again.

Wonderful cabin.
Our first initial day was very warm in the cabin even with the 3 ACs going(high 90’s high humidity), but the rest of the days were great. Beds were comfy without any issues. WiFi worked great. We did bring linens and paper products though I believe prior guests did leave some paper products so we didn’t have to use all of what we brought. It might be nice to have a second AC upstairs but the one was sufficient to slowly cool the top floor. Claw bathtub with shower was adequate for bathing and showering. Kitchen was great with all the pans, utensils you need. The grill also worked well without issue. The friends and I had a good time at the cabin. Would rent again. Possibly have to get bigger cabin though if more people came with us lol.

Great cottage
Cottage was beautiful and had all the charm of historical mount Gretna cottages. It was a great location too! Our only complaint was how limited supplies and things were…there were no linens (towels, sheets, pillow cases, etc) or basic supplies like toilet paper or paper towels. They did make sure we knew that prior to arriving and it was clearly outlined! Unfortunately, it just adds stress to find a store in that area and buy all of those things while you’re on vacation. I offered to donate all the things we had purchased but was denied...we didn’t have room in our suitcases so we had to throw it all away. I am sure there is a reason for it but that would be my only suggestion to make the stay more accommodating. Everything else there was great and we love mount Gretna!

glimpse into gretna
It is very much a family summer cottage, and that is part of its charm. The porch is gracious and comfortable, the bedrooms too. The cottage is quite dark (for those who may not be familiar with Mt. Gretna cottages!) because the walls are original wood and the whole place is surrounded with trees. There is little overhead lighting, so be warned! However, the cottage is well equipped with modern electronics and conveniences. The small kitchen has no counter space, so probably don't plan big baking projects here! It's a lovely place for enjoying the woods, sitting on the porch listening to the woodthrushes and katydids, and enjoying and all the charms that Mt. Gretna has to offer. I was particularly delighted to find traces here of Lena, a childhood friend of my grandmother's in the 1920s, in a couple of framed photographs and a commemorative plate - evidence of the cottage's long personal history! Don't come expecting slick modern comfort and fixtures - relax and enjoy a very individualized family space. It's a lovely place for a getaway.

Wonderful stay!
Cottage is adorable and, yes, old! But that is part of the experience, if you are going to rent in this location check out the history of it. Location was easy to find, all instructions very clear and helpful. Cottage was well stocked with pretty much everything we needed. Enjoyed sitting on the porch, and walking around seeing everyone else's porches and gardens and how they were decorated. Played some mini-golf and went for bike rides. Quiet weekend, very relaxing. Front bedroom without the window AC could use a new mattress, since people are paying for a place to sleep, I think the comfort of the sleeping accommodations is pretty important.

Front Porch relaxing in historic home
The neighborhood and front porch is what drew me to rent this house. Parking was not well marked and we had to ask the neighbors where we were supposed to park. I absolutely loved sitting and relaxing on the front porch in the morning and at night. Walking into the house was like walking into an antique store or dirty dancing era. The living room could use some updating, we had 6 people in our family and we couldn’t all sit in the living room together. The upstairs was a little dark and creepy, to many cobwebs in the bedrooms for my liking and the bed in the front master had a spring sticking out of it that caught on your clothes and scratched you. I liked the house for the location, walking distance to everything, but not sure I would rent it again.

Booked this cabin home for the weekend for my wrestling family for a local competition. It was quaint and simple, yet nostalgic. The home was cozy, clean, and overall a comfortable stay. The neighborhood was quiet and peaceful. We had a wonderful time. Check in and out was the easiest I’ve ever dealt with and communicating with Penn Realty staff was immediate and simple. Look forward to our future stays with them!

Updating needed
I like quaint , & old is ok. But repairs and updating the cottage is definitely needed The teens immediately said it’s a little too dark and scary upstairs. The whole upstairs including ceilings and doors are all the same dark brown panels. I think this makes it dark and gloomy ( and to kids a bit scary) The steps need skid free something on them and a light going up the steps. The banister at bottom of steps was loose, this is not ok it should have been repaired before it got rented out again! Also the front porch top step needs repair and the banister outside . we liked the location and porch Some places were dusty and the wing chair needs to be cleaned, more seating needed to watch one tv in living room since it can sleep 7 people , we loved lake gretna, jiggers too , and the grounds and scenery We would stay at mt gretna again but not at this cottage The Owners need to do repairs and spiff it up

Didn’t stay
I drove up and thought this will be lovely. Porch was wonderful. Walked into the house and was hit by this smell that was either musty or cat urine. The week was forecast to be very hot and the AC in the cottage was 2 old window units that sounded like a cement mixer. I locked up and left. Between the smell and the heat, I turned the keys back in to the property manager. I knew there was no way I could sleep there. Noise of window unit or excessive heat? It was a no win.

Not the greatest
I usually don’t trust one review but in this case, I should have. One thing I wasn’t worried about was the knob and tube electric. If it’s been there for this long, I’m not gonna stress about it. As far as the actual cottage goes.....it could use a makeover. The couch needs to be steam cleaned, covered, or replaced. It smelled awful. Could use newer carpet. Even some remnants thrown down would be better. The grill was completely unusable and another renter had left a note in there stating so. Half of the bulbs were burnt out and it is DARK inside! Good luck reading or anything inside. It was hot but if you turn on every single fan in the house and the 2 window units, it’s a little better. On the plus side, We liked the claw foot tub and enjoyed the porch as we do with every home there. There was just a lot of clutter compared to other houses we’ve rented in Mt. Gretna. If you’ve never been there you might be surprised by how old these houses are. That’s all part of the charm but this was more like an antique shop than a rental.
