Pet friendly and close to the trails in the heart of downtown Leadville!

This charming three bedroom is a great getaway with lots of antiques and country style. Located in walking distance from all the downtown conveniences and also has easy access to multiple trail systems. Bedrooms have one queen in one room, A queen in the other room and the last bedroom has a queen and a twin. For a total of four beds. House has a full kitchen and lots of space for guests. Leadville is not only home to enthusiastic snow bikers, it's also famous for its way-beyond-marathon races. The Silver Rush 50 Run is high-altitude madness: "Take on 50 miles of extreme territory that starts at 10,200 feet and reaches 12,000 feet four times." The best part? It prepares runners "for the pinnacle Leadville 100". Yes, that's a 100 mile-run in the high Rockies.Leadville's population balloons during these extreme running events. But at other times of the year, families can enjoy an uncrowded visit in this totally cool little town, that's the highest incorporated city in the U.S.

Leadville was a mining boom-town and is still graced with vintage buildings. Families who visit in winter can ski and board at the very affordable nearby Ski Cooper ski resort. There is a $25 pet fee.In the event of inclement weather (ex: heavy snow, etc.) we will not be able to help with any vehicle issues. We recommend using 4-wheel and All Wheel drive vehicles to get to the property during these times. This property is city street parking. The location will meet all your needs. License # 001380

Terrible VRBO
Property is not maintained. Grass was 2 ft tall. No parking. You have to walk through rocky ditch to enter house. Sheets were dirty and double sheets on queen beds. Found dirty sock in one bed. Black mold on shower curtain. Listing wasn't as described on VRBO. Washing machine hose drains into kitchen sink. Dusty and dirty!! This house is not VRBO worthy.

STAY, just a little bit longer.
Kept us warm, safe and dry. Pay attention to listing because it has a TV but no Internet and no cable. It has a washer, but no dryer. But perfect for two old farts and three grandchildren.

Good value for family stay
This place was just like staying at my grandparents’ when I was a kid…. Even some of the same items. The house layout isnt very functional as it’s easy to see what was just added on over the years. The water pressure and heater were good and there were numerous places for a family to sleep. It was nice to have our family dog along but the fence didn’t fully enclose the yard so we couldn’t just let him out. The check in and out were easy and the host was responsive to an issue that occurred during our stay. It was a great location for town services and nearby skiing. Overall, a good value.

Gone down hill
Property is older which we knew and stayed there last year which we enjoyed and knew its an older property with corks but it seems to have gone down hill. Couch has holes with no padding in the back and beds where a bit to be desired but I can deal with the aesthetics. We had no hot water for almost 24 hours was told that maintenance had come by Friday evening while out for dinner which I was never informed when he would be coming to fix the hot water heater and they would come back Saturday (questioning the cleanest of the VRBO with no hot water from the time we got there) I was also informed of this information only after reaching out to the host about not having toilet paper that evening which she responded to me at 3:00 am on Saturday morning. We had a very nice maintenance guy who could not fix it but made sure a plumber came within an hour to fix it. Ran out of toilet paper at 10:00pm the first night we where there and had to run to the store to get some and no paper towels. Was told by host they would drop some by on Saturday morning and nobody showed. The oven felt hot the whole time like it was running but everything said off on the oven so not sure why it was heating up the kitchen when it was supposedly off so I was scared to even use it. This is the second time staying here and the last unless things improve and maintenance is done on this home.

Rundown
The house is rundown and old. It was clean though. The “grass” weeds, in the yard was three feet tall. Asked to have it mowed and the management company said they would try to have their guy come out. Then they replied he needed access to the electricity in the house because he only had an electric weed eater. Then the next day the guy could not come cause he went to the hospital. (Hope he’s ok.) There is no internet or TV, cable availability.

Pleasant
We stayed in this VRBO in Leadville for one night. It was pleasant and served its purpose. This house was built in 1888 according to Zillow, and that's pretty cool. It's rather large for in town in Leadville (we visit often) and it was very spacious. There is no WiFi, which was a little disappointing - even though it does say that in the listing, I never thought to look, because these days, WiFi is generally a given. It was fine though, since we were only there one night - but since I work online/remotely, it might have been an issue during a longer stay. The home was very clean, which was great! The furniture is older but that's certainly part of the charm. It's all clean and comfortable. There is only one heater (plus some space heaters) in the middle of the main level. We cranked it up pretty high though - on the suggestion of the host - and it really did actually heat the entire house pretty well. I was afraid we'd be cold upstairs, but it was fine. I slept great! Stairs to upstairs are rather steep but there is a railing - just be careful. Again, it's an old house! There weren't a whole lot of dishes either, I noticed, but we didn't cook during our stay so that wasn't a big deal for us. This is on a quiet street in a quiet part of Leadville but is close to everything. Easy parking. Lovely historic property with a lot of unique charm. I'd stay there again! I'd recommend it, just know that there are some quirks, but nothing terrible at all. I recommend it!

Neighbor Sucks
Our stay was fine, except for the neighbor, who obviously has an issue with being next to a BnB property. The listing should include something about the parking situation and maybe there wouldn’t have been an issue. Whatever you do, DO NOT park anywhere in the giant driveway on the right side of the house. It’s the neighbor’s and he won’t ask you to move himself, but instead will call the property manager to tell on you. My cousin got there before us and parked in a spot on the side of the house because the front parking wasn’t as easy to unload from. My cousin parked there briefly and within minutes I was getting calls and texts from the property manager. The neighbor lied to her saying he couldn’t get out for work. He had plenty of space to get by. Either way, my cousin moved his truck right away, we weren’t trying to be any trouble. Here’s the kicker. It snowed all night and I’d say we got about 8”. My husband went out to shovel us out and the neighbor was plowing his giant driveway. My husband waved at him and he glared back and continued pushing snow towards the front of the house where we were parked. We got back from snowboarding all day, and the neighbor had made a giant pile of snow right in the spot my cousin had parked before! He pushed it so far in the front of the house that we had to shovel a new path on the sidewalk. This property is what it is, not terrible I guess for prices these days. But I wouldn’t stay here again because of the jerk neighbor.

Sufficient place
I stayed here for seven nights because I had to do some work in Leadville. I don't think I fit the typical-renter type for this place as it wasn't a good fit for me. I didn't mind that the place reminded me of my grandma's home from the 80's--everything looks almost 40 years old. There were a few crucial things lacking that if provided would improve the overall experience tremendously--internet service, proper washer/dryer, and functioning window treatments. I needed wifi for work, and there is no internet service at the house. The messaging on this was unclear. If you read the description, internet is listed on the description page (even as of March 7, I took a screenshot). When I called about this, I was told that all phones have internet, and that I should go to the Leadville establishments to get internet. I think in this day and age, VRBO's should be very clear whether they provide internet service or not. The washing machine is in the kitchen and drains into the kitchen sink. It looks like it's been there since the 80's.There is no dryer, and I was told to take any wet laundry upstairs, since it's warmer up there, lay them out to dry, and by the next day, it should be ready. I ended up laundering my clothes at an acquaintance's house mid-week because I needed a sure-thing. Window treatments--there are (at least) two pull-down shades that don't work. A very large one in the dining room was held up by a piece of string. Since I was staying at the place alone, I wanted some privacy, so I let it down. That was fine for the night, but during they day, I couldn't get it back up, in order to let the daylight in. Below the window is a large radiator, so I had to prop two chairs on either side for the shade sit on, since I wasn't sure if the radiator would burn it. Similarly, in the bedroom, one of the shades didn't work, so I couldn't get daylight in. To make matters worse, they weren't blackout shades, so the light from the street lamp and front door light came through at night, so the bedroom never got dark. The house needs working shades to improve the atmosphere. There are more quirks, but I'll share just one more. There is only one bathroom, and only enough hot water for one short shower. The thing I did really about the place was the electric blanket on the bed.

The house the time...and the cleaning crew...forgot
For the price we paid, which is below most nightly rates for Leadville, on a weekend when there were only three options available across multiple sites that were in our budget, we were willing to assume what we thought was an informed decision to do without internet (though I was able to use my TMobile phone for tethering) and TV (it isn't internet-connected even for tethering) for a 3-day ski weekend would be ok. "Step back in time" is an accurate name for this property. It clearly has not been touched since the 1950s/1960s. Almost all the furniture, appliances, flooring, décor, and fixtures are from that era. Those that are newer, with few exceptions, are likely damaged (for example the refrigerator has door shelves that are broken and a corner is so chipped that the refrigerator insulation is showing). The kitchen is barely stocked with useable tools: the cutting board is warped to being almost un-useable, there are no cookie sheets (just a few cake pans), and no garbage disposal. This last note is significant because the clothes washing machine discharges its water into the kitchen sink - you don't want that backing up on you). Oh - and there is no dryer for clothes, just the washing machine, and the only place to hang dry anything you wash is behind a door marked "No guest access. {Employees} only." Which brings me to cleanliness. Even BEFORE COVID, the state we walked into would be considered disgusting. When we arrived, we spent over an hour cleaning/disinfecting the toilet, shower/tub, and kitchen (all clearly had not been cleaned - there were urine marks on the toilet and hair in the shower for specific examples). While cleaning we searched for clean linens because ALL the beds had body hair and did not smell fresh compared to some clean-smelling but still hairy linens we found stashed in a drawer. After washing all the linens, we found that not having a clothes dryer made it virtually impossible to remove the hair, so we became creative with items we brought that became linens. To her credit, the host contact (who is in Wisconsin) responded to my initial messages regarding the cleanliness situation, apologized, and offered a slight refund. She did not check in during the remainder of our stay nor have we seen the refund (note: we checked out 11 days ago & the refund was promised 14 days ago). If cleaning issues are resolved and we took 100% of our own linens, we would consider staying here again as a last resort option.
