I stayed here for seven nights because I had to do some work in Leadville. I don't think I fit the typical-renter type for this place as it wasn't a good fit for me. I didn't mind that the place reminded me of my grandma's home from the 80's--everything looks almost 40 years old. There were a few crucial things lacking that if provided would improve the overall experience tremendously--internet service, proper washer/dryer, and functioning window treatments.
I needed wifi for work, and there is no internet service at the house. The messaging on this was unclear. If you read the description, internet is listed on the description page (even as of March 7, I took a screenshot). When I called about this, I was told that all phones have internet, and that I should go to the Leadville establishments to get internet. I think in this day and age, VRBO's should be very clear whether they provide internet service or not.
The washing machine is in the kitchen and drains into the kitchen sink. It looks like it's been there since the 80's.There is no dryer, and I was told to take any wet laundry upstairs, since it's warmer up there, lay them out to dry, and by the next day, it should be ready. I ended up laundering my clothes at an acquaintance's house mid-week because I needed a sure-thing.
Window treatments--there are (at least) two pull-down shades that don't work. A very large one in the dining room was held up by a piece of string. Since I was staying at the place alone, I wanted some privacy, so I let it down. That was fine for the night, but during they day, I couldn't get it back up, in order to let the daylight in. Below the window is a large radiator, so I had to prop two chairs on either side for the shade sit on, since I wasn't sure if the radiator would burn it. Similarly, in the bedroom, one of the shades didn't work, so I couldn't get daylight in. To make matters worse, they weren't blackout shades, so the light from the street lamp and front door light came through at night, so the bedroom never got dark. The house needs working shades to improve the atmosphere.
There are more quirks, but I'll share just one more. There is only one bathroom, and only enough hot water for one short shower.
The thing I did really about the place was the electric blanket on the bed.
