5-Star Review: "Our stay at the Gunstock Lodge is one of our favorite family vacations to date! The location was perfect for hikes around Spearfish Canyon, drives around the Hills, stunning scenery and fun places to grab dinner. The house was everything we needed and we loved breakfast or glass of wine to watch the sunset on the deck. It had the perfect mix of sunshine and shade. The hot tub was great for a late night dip. All in all just what our family needed as an escape during a pandemic; safe, stunning vistas and lots of outdoor adventures."

This is another great addition to the Gilded Mountain Development and is beautifully decorated with custom finishes and upscale amenities. The cabin is just 1 block from the Clubhouse with outdoor heated pool.

4 Bedrooms, 2 baths - this 3 level home will sleep 12-14 comfortably.  The main level has beautiful open, flowing kitchen, dining and living area with a wall of windows looking out into the Black Hills Forest.  The living room has a gas fireplace, with flat screen TV above it, comfortable seating and walk out to the deck.  The full service kitchen has everything you need to make meals for your group and the dining area easily seats 10.  There is also a walk-out to the deck, by the kitchen to the wrap-around deck, BBQ Grill and private hot tub. The main floor has 1 bedroom with a King bed and a full bathroom with double sinks and shower/tub combo.

The upstairs loft has a queen bedroom and open loft area for sitting and relaxing.  The lower level has a spacious living area with wet bar, TV area with flat screen and comfy seating.  There is a full bath and 2 more bedrooms on the lower level - both with queen beds.  The back area of the family room has a great kids' sleeping area with a full-size bunk bed and extra pull-out full mattress.

The Gilded Mtn. Subdivision also offers use of an Oldwest themed Clubhouse! The Clubhouse is beautiful with log accents, cabin and mining decor, and the perfect additional place to enjoy your vacation! It offers a game room, outdoor swimming pool, hot tub and dry sauna.

Our Stay at Gunstock
Everything was exactly as pictured and described. Loved the property. It is well designed and decorated. The set up was great and we loved the outdoor space (deck, hot tub, neighborhood, etc). We also enjoyed the pool and clubhouse. The kids loved the games upstairs and the heated pool. We plan to be back!

End of summer UTV family fun
Great location, property just as described, perfect for our 15 year old son, .my husband and me. The only recommendation is that the bottom of the driveway be filled in. Also guests need to understand the parking limitations for multiple trailers and vehicles. Looking forward to returning next year!!!

The house was perfect. Only one issue was the driveway. It was all rock and holes big enough to fall into. It was not safe to drive motorcycles or trailers up and park. We had to park on the road which is also a huge incline.

Beautiful Property
This home is beautiful and nicely decorated. Everything was very clean and communications with the property owner were prompt. It's great to also have a private hot tub as sometimes we were too tired to go over to the clubhouse. We had snow almost every day and there is a little hill to get up the drive so I would recommend good snow tires or a vehicle that can make it up a slight incline during the winter. We had snow tires so it wasn't a problem. Highly recommend!

Location was great. Nice home. Our major complaints are the beds. Full beds seem strange for grown adults that are normally in queen size or king. and none were that comfortable. I would also put drapes on the windows. Sun shines in morning very early and woke us up with the birds. Towel bar in main bathroom was broken and sink didn't drain. Just minor maintenance issues.

We thoroughly enjoyed out time at Gunstock! Beautiful setting - easy checkin - good response to our concerns. Beds were a bit small and poor mattresses. Lots of rain and some wash out in driveway - kept saying it would be filled but not until the morning we left. The lights and ceiling fans in main floor bedroom and loft were messed up. Very modern kitchen, great hot tub, beautiful scenery, and wrap around deck! Lots of memories - would stay again if some things were updated, such as beds!

Nice place if you don’t need to sleep
I should have trusted past reviews. TERRIBLE beds. Mattress sunk in the middle. My husband spent the first night on the couch. We did discover that it was better if we laid diagonal with our legs hanging over the edge of the bed. More disappointing that I completed there emailed survey with zero response almost 48 hours later. Have stayed at many VRBO properties and loved every experience. This was such a disappointment.

We had a group of 5 adults (2 couples and Grandma) and 5 kids between us. The only surprise was that it had three private bedrooms and 1 loft bedroom. But, I would stay here again, hands down! There was plenty of space; enough sleeping options.The beds were very comfortable. The home was super clean (and I am very picky). The kids enjoyed the pool in October. The adults and kids enjoyed the hot tub. This home had a "user guide" with all sorts of local and cabin related information that was helpful. This development would be neat for a family reunion or group of families vacationing together. Each family could stay in their own home, with the use of the community center/pool and walkability to each 'cabin' home. Our family suggests ordering pizza from the Pizza Lab, which delivers! Lewie's has fantastic burgers and great service.

Perfect holiday weekend
Loved the ability to rent a cabin and have all of our family together for Thanksgiving. The cabin offered plenty of space for all four families to relax and unwind. We enjoyed a lot of time in the hot tub and made many memories preparing meals together in the kitchen. One suggestion for the owner would be to assess and restock some of the kitchen supplies. We couldn’t find any measuring spoons and had moments when we wished there had been more cooking utensils, large mixing bowls, a muffin/cupcake tin and/or cookie sheets, more sauce pans and cutting boards, etc. I only share this as a piece of advice, as we were able to make due and it didn’t affect our overall experience. Another question we had was regarding the baby gate - we couldn’t get it to extend wide enough to block the stairs leading to the basement. We also wondered why we couldn’t use the ice melt, as the main stairs became an icy death trap and we had a family member slip and fall, but several signs in the cabin said we would incur a $50 fee if we used the ice melt...this was very odd. With the long driveway, we also spent hours shoveling in order to leave on Sunday, and we wondered if we should have waited for a plowing service or if it was our responsibility to shovel. At checkout, I did appreciate being able to text the cleaner when we were leaving and got a 2-hour extension due to the extreme weather conditions. At the clubhouse, the fitness room was a little sad. The middle treadmill worked, but the treadmill to the right is very unsafe as the belt is off centered. It’s a very uncomfortable room for 3 cardio machines... would also have loved to see some free weights or cable machines for guests to use. Again, overall it was great, we just had a few notes of feedback. Thank you!

Very nice property
We had a very nice stay. I would say it is way more populated then it suggests. You have neighbors all around you. The pool was very small and very dated. The outside patio furniture was very dirty and worn. You need to maintain the hot tub during your stay which was a bit stressful. As I have never owned one. The instructions were clear but would rather not have to deal with it. Out overall stay was good.

Beautiful home
The home is beautiful and in a great location! Lots of room for 8 of us! The wrap around deck is awesome! However, the home is very limited on TP, PT and any kitchen supplies you may need from cooking utensils, to pots and pans to mixing bowls. Be sure to bring spices, foil, plastic wrap or storage containers, zip lock bags. Some of this is mentioned in the home amenities and description, however.

Beautiful house and location; it was exactly as described. I wish there were more towels and wash clothes available as we had 5 adults and a 16 year old trail riding everyday plus the use of the hot tub. The only other issue we had was parking. We have a long bed dually truck and a 20 foot trailer with a 4 seat side by side with no where to turn around or unhook the trailers. Not the owners problem, but just so everyone else is aware. Luckily we could drive the side by side anywhere we needed to go.
