Could be great
The location and size of the property was ideal for the size of our party, and we did have a lovely time. However I chose the property on the basis of the description of the equipment, bedroom sizes and the benefit of air conditioning in a barn. The cost was more than we have paid before but we felt that the described facilities we're of a standard we expected and similar to those we have at home.
The positives first:
Good location and quite private despite the co-located holiday chalets (which was not clear in the property description)
Good size private pool and access to the games barn for the holiday chalets.
Plenty to do in a reasonable distance and great for cycling and river activities.
Owners were helpful and responsive
Upstairs bedrooms of a good size and air conditioning was a godsend as the temperatures were largely in the mid-30s during the day and the barn construction meant that hot air rose.
Great outdoor eating space and charcoal bbq, lovely indoor farmhouse style dining area.
Next the could do better:
The air conditioning downstairs had been removed, hence the master bedroom could not be used as it was too hot.
The kitchen was poorly equipped, impression is that crockery etc was the result of a file market trip. Only plastic glasses, no mugs of sufficient teacups for tea/ coffee. Utensils and pans pretty dilapidated. We bought glasses and mugs .
Downstairs curtains were quite frankly filthy, particularly in the kitchen.
Linen not included in the rental and what was provided at an additional cost did not include bath towels. The linen was clean but of poor quality. Had to make up the beds on arrival.
No hanging space in bedrooms, antique furniture was all linen press cupboards in the bedrooms.
Television poor quality and wifi is virtually none existent, kept dropping and resulted in mobile data limits being used pretty quickly by all the adults.
There was an additional tourist tax that needs to be added the rental.
This property has so much potential, just needs a bit of care and attention.
