Lovely apartment but lacking in some basic items
My family and I stayed at the castle for two nights. We unfortunately missed out on enjoying the first night at the property due to terrible traffic along the Garda road meaning we got to the property very late. Which was a shame as the surroundings are beautiful, with lovely gardens and grounds. The apartment is also gorgeous with lovely décor and furniture. The bed was very comfy too.
The only let down was the basics of the accommodation. There was hardly any cutlery, with only one fork, and three knives. The dishwasher was full of items that we had to pack away. There was only one bowl for breakfast cereals for the kids, There were some plastic disposable bowels in a drawer, along with some left over breadsticks.
The wifi didn't work either. Perhaps the bandwidth had been all used up, but we could connect, just there wasn't any service as it ran 500kbps at most! Not really an issue for a one day stay.
Communication on the key collection, towels and bedding etc, and parking procedure could have been better. We had no idea where to go to park at 11pm in the dark!
To help others out, it is around the back of the castle. You have to go down an unmade dirt track to get there and you enter it from the bottom of the single traffic hill controlled by the traffic lights - not up by the actual castle. But you need the blipper to open the gates, so you need the keys first!
Go visit Gino's bar in the town - lovely atmosphere, staff, and cocktails with tapas that were also cheap! oh...and strong!
Don't bother going to Pizza Planet - disgusting pizza, tasted like a frozen one! no-one ate their meals, even the kids!
