A Southern retreat at its finest! Stay with us at our cottage close to Historic Downtown on a safe, breathtaking street of prestigious Laurel families and walking distance from Mason Park and Downtown. Only 3 small steps into the cottage takes you back to a slower, simpler way of life filled with toile and antiques. You will find that our 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom cottage has large pillow-top beds, Chef’s kitchen, original craftsman tile bathrooms, downstairs game room and cheerful patio. Our kitchen is gorgeous...it was remodeled by the Home Town crew! Welcome to our Home Town!
Driving down the street lined with majestic oaks, large magnolias and azaleas will take your breath away. Let Mason and Rose Cottage blur the ways of the world as you focus on family and friends. It is packed with all the charm and amenities that are sure to please everyone in your group, both big and small. It has many of the original things that we love – crank windows, hardwood floors throughout the house, brass door knobs, doors and screen doors that have been repurposed and the craftsman tile in the bathrooms. And we have modernized all the things that bring the most convenience – new fixtures, modern kitchen, air conditioner upgrade, hot water heater upgrade and Wifi.
Each space is the perfect combination of old and new, and together it is magical. The kitchen has been completely renovated by one of your Home Town favorites - Dustin, the Cabinet Guy or more formally DC Specialties - with a large gas stove and stunning cabinetry with an antique China cabinet as the focal point. The kitchen also has a coffee bar surrounded by metal tiles with amazing patina. We have stocked the cabinets with our favorite antiques, Pioneer Woman glasses, plates, kitchen utensils and pots and pans. This just adds to the enjoyment with beautiful, quality kitchenware. We also have a sonic-style ice machine just to the right of the sink. It’s a guest favorite!
The living room has a 55-inch TV with Xfinity, large tufted sofa, antique sideboard, Jacobean highboy and the original marble fireplace surround. We love decorating for holidays on this large mantle.
The large dining room seats 8 for those big gatherings.
The furnishing in the bedrooms were carefully selected to create a peaceful, Southern retreat. The master has a pillow top king bed with beautiful drapery and antique wall décor. The second bedroom has a pillow top queen and pillow top full bed (2 large beds!) with cheerful bedding. The third bedroom has a pillow top queen bed with the prettiest curtains and wall art tying it all together.
We are very focused and committed to clean. We wash ALL bedding (sheets and comforters) between each stay. We sanitize all hard surfaces and have Lysol products available for your use. We have an air purifier in the cottage. We also have antibacterial soap and hand sanitizer for you use.
Both bathrooms have new shower and sink fixtures, but the craftsman tile was kept for nostalgia and playfulness. The master bathroom has a rain and side shower head. All bathrooms have quality towels.
The patio has a cheerful feel overlooking a large, private backyard. There is also a creek behind the tree line that will be fun for the kids. There is an old iron playground slide that is usable now and our next project to repaint it.
We did our own HGTV-like project and cut the old front screen door going down to the game room/basement.
The game room is a really unique, shiplap space that is almost 1000 sq ft. There are plenty of board games and cards to enjoy while overlooking the patio and backyard. We hope your group enjoys spreading out on the rug and coffee table for game night. And the hand-crafted floors are made from torn up brown paper bags. What a bonus entertainment space!
Our beautiful pictures were taken by Randy from the Woodshop. Such a talented craftsman with photography too!
Our street is a beautiful, but busy street; you aren't able to park on the street. We recently poured 2 parking spots and moved the key pad to the front door, so it has easy parking and no flight of stairs to walk up. There are only 2.5 steps coming up to the front door. It’s a great place to stay if you have difficulty with stairs.
We will send the code a few days before your arrival. Press the Yale button and the key pad will illuminate. Enter the code and then press the "check" button at the bottom right. This will unlock it. Please note that we programmed the lock to autolock within 5 minutes if that hasn't been done.
Come visit Mason and Rose Cottage, a place where time stands still. Check in is at 4:00 PM or later on the day of arrival and check out is 11:00 AM or earlier on the day of departure. Thanks for considering us!
