Going back in time...friendly but basic...French needed!
I would say this area is one of the most beautiful I have visited. Empty roads, forested hills, deep gorges with clean flowing rivers packed with fish. Villages right out of the past often covered with beautiful blooms of flowers. At night the light comes from the moon and stars. People are so friendly and helpful from the hotel owners and staff to villagers met on our many trips.
The hotel was very basic and had a family of cats and dogs that roamed freely. Language was a problem dispite the enthusiastic owners attemps to please.
Basic breakfast but no evening meal available due to our late in the season booking which perhapse should have been made clear to us on booking.
The hotel itself was no beauty and is very dated and in need of decoration. However it was kept clean and towels were changed every day by the smiling staff.
Around the village is pure countryside with excellent roads some small and others quite wide but all mostly empty apart from the odd tractor. Wildlife abounds and is unspoilt and at times quite spectacular.
The weather when we stayed, late August, was extremely hot and sunny often reaching the top 30s and even entering the 40s.
If you want to get away from everything then this just might be the place for you.
