"The hotel itself was nice in a very modern way but bar service was somewhat lacking with the sole person running the place disappearing for long periods leaving us with empty glasses and eventually giving up waiting for further drinks, both in the afternoon after arrival and later in the evening after eating."

"What a wonderful stay! This is a very unique opportunity to stay in an active Monastery. The grounds are buildings are beautiful and well preserved. The room was simple, but spacious and very comfortable. The Friars are warm and welcoming; they welcome participation in prayers and services, though there is no expectation to do so. "The room was freezing, there was no phone in the room to contact reception and the night receptionist did not know a word of English. The only restaurant in the hotel, which was also the only restaurant in that area, started serving at 8:00 p.m. and served only two soups and three rustic dishes, none of which could be eaten. It didn't even have a menu to choose from, and it was immediately filled with drunken men. It was like a nightmare for a family with children."

"La Grancha is a hotel in rural La Fresneda. The owners are lovely and welcoming. They speak little English so take a phrase book. The menu is in Spanish, we got help in translating from a fellow guest. The hotel is wonderfully rustic in this beautiful village."
