"This is the most beautiful, personal hidden gem. The property sits on a residential street, and as soon as you step through the gate you truly feel as though are a guest in someone's home. Our room was beautiful and spacious with a huge bed. The view onto the golf course is peaceful and beautiful. We were cooked breakfast at a time of our choice and had some wonderful coffee, yoghurt, fruit eggs and bacon. Nothing was too much trouble. When we are back in Langebaan, we are heading straight here....

"Very warm welcome and lots of recommendations on places to eat and visit. We had the family suite which was very spacious and good balcony space with Braai area. Overlooking the par 3 golf course. Please note there are dogs at this property, well behaved but if you are not confident with them it might be an issue. Plenty of places to eat a short drive away in town. Thank you. "

"If one wants a place like few others, then The Merry Widow is for you. When I arrived at Reception, I thought I had got the wrong place, but I met Ulrich Onaggi the owner who is charming and he directed me to the right place to park, and then we walked across the lawn to the room, which was huge, and could have been a former barn. It has rough stone walls and a very high ceiling. Equipped quirkily, but exceedingly cold. One needs an electric blanket and a heater in the room in order to...

"Overall the property was what we expected. Ideal for two persons, doing local daytrips. Basic, safe, clean with a small kitchen, equipped for 2 persons. Clean linen and a comfortable double bed. Typical the apartments one would find in Europe. We did not use the loose blanket on the bed, but it is in need of a wash."

"Superb peaceful location looking out over the lagoon. Bedrooms were charming although it was too easy to hear children in next door room - in the early hours of the morning. Breakfast and dinner were superb - excellent menus all cooked beautifully."

"Such a beautiful location and the hotel could do so much better. Disappointing as the windows in the room were dirty so it ruined the beautiful view. Bathroom ceiling had a hole and sheets had stains. The outside and lounge areas are lovely. "

"Alabaster Box certainly is doing something right! Besides the home being immaculately kept, the service is top notch. Upon entering my room I was met with the most beautiful scent of sandalwood. A small fridge, and kettle were available for my snacks and tea. The shower was absolutely amazing, and much needed after a long car ride! The balcony even had views of the lagoon. There’s a serene koi pond in the back, and pool as well. Most of all, I felt safe as a solo female. May God bless this home. 10/10. "
