"The staff were really friendly during our stay, the breakfast was fantastic and service was great. We were so disappointed to discover on the last day that there was another side to the breakfast menu which we hadn't turned over! "The hotel is a large old inn on the outside, but inside is modern, clean and very comfortable. The staff were very friendly and looked after us very well. For example: we were shown to our room on arrival (never had that before) and were a font of knowledge about the various local walks and sights. There is even a map painted on the ceiling of the bar! Restaurant was an excellent source of hearty and freshly cooked meals (breakfasts and dinners). Highly recommend."

"A decent place to stay! The room was fine, if a little cold, but the additional heater warmed it up well. The bed was comfy and the breakfast was excellent. The staff were very friendly and I had a lovely pint in the bar. Coniston is well worth a visit and The Sun is definitely worth staying at."

"We had an amazing time. The food amazing in a gorgeous pub. The atmosphere and hospitality was fantastic everyone made us feel welcome very friendly especially the lovely Keith, what a legend! Loved listening to the stories & the history of the building he was brilliant! We paid £132 a night (Tuesday( for our room, there was a few minor problems, especially the volume of the music that we could hear while in our room played in the bar & we did also wonder if it was actually a Superior room,...

"The Inn was in a quiet village near Hawkshead. The dinner and breakfast menu and food served was really good and tasty. The room facilities were ok - but a lot of noise from the people in the room above walking around. "

"This is the 3 rd time we have stayed at the Wild Boar and we decided to Upgrade our room this time . Unfortunately the shower had not be cleaned and had cobwebs hanging from It clearly Indicating it had not been cleaned throughly for some time . All staff were friendly and the meals are fantastic unfortunately the standard of cleanliness of the shower somewhat tarnished the stay as the room upgrade was significantly more expensive than the standard rooms. "
