Lakeside Summer Cottage

SLEEPS: 6

BEDROOMS: 3

BATHROOMS: 2

*Within walking distance of private access Lake Michigan beach!
*Pet friendly

A peaceful beach getaway is right around the corner-- just down the street from the sandy shores of Lake Michigan! The fact that this home is pet friendly is a true bonus for this area! While close to a poplular road, the deck backs up to a forested back yard. This immediately brings out a feeling of getting away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Lakeside Summer Cottage is more vintage than modern, yet has a great flow for that simple Union Pier family gathering, near the beach. The kitchen is the hub which provides has ample space to prepare your meals, plus eat around the table together. The kitchen table doubles as the host for family game night.

This older, manufactured home is all on one level. It has a classic appeal. The master bedroom, with a queen bed, has an en suite bathroom with a large, deep tub and separate shower. The other two (2) bedrooms have a queen bed, and two (2) beds, respectfully. The additional full bathroom can be easily shared by the two (2) bedrooms.

We look forward to your visit to Union Pier where privacy, ease and your furry family member are welcome!

Wooded retreat
A few friends rented here to visit friends in the area. We received very clear instructions on how to enter (needing to flip the breaker for the water heater almost took us by surprise). The yard is gorgeous, and the property feels secluded in spite of being close to Red Arrow. The home is a bit eccentric - it’s prefab on cinderblocks, with a mix of antique furnishings and more contemporary, functional pieces. That can be seen in the listing, but you may not notice quirks like carpet in the primary bath. We noticed that there were plenty of dishes and serving platters. Overall, it feels functional and cozy. I had my dog with me (much appreciated) and the large kennel in the primary bedroom was convenient. The cleanliness of the home in general was great, but my dog could tell that past dogs had peed on the rug in a couple of places. I’ve never seen him try to mark territory in a new place, but he tried that almost immediately here. I cleaned the places he was interested in and he was fine. Some degree of that is out of your control when your place is open to pets, so I totally get that, but it might be time for a deep clean on those carpets. I also suggest better lighting in the main room. Brighter, warmer overhead lighting on a dimmer would make a big difference toward coziness.

Lakeside Cottage
My friends and I were a bit disappointed. My first impression of the property is that it could use a lot of updating. It does not have great curb appeal. The inside was very clean but outdated. The location is great and near the beach which is beautiful. We also had some issues with the hot water. The property manager was very responsive to my concerns and did what he could to help our stay.

Great location!
PROs: Walking distance to the beach is amazing, plenty of space inside, it was pretty clean.and they allow furry friends. CONs: This is a double wide, its right next to a state hwy with plenty of road and rail noise, & the price is 20% + over what it probably should be. We enjoyed our stay but there should be better options in the Union Pier area!

Well stocked & beautiful beach
This place had plenty of room for us (myself, husband, parents & 2 kids). It was very well stocked & the beach was amazing. Helpful info: once you turn off red arrow highway & onto golf road the house is immediately to your left, light brown house with about 4 parking blocks. To get to the beach take the same road you turned on. It splits into 2 different paths but both lead to the paved road that you need to cross to get to the beach. If you take the path to the left, turn right once you get to the paved road. If you take the path to the right turn left once you get to the paved road Enjoy!!

comfy cozy and stocked with all you could need
We took a little get away to celebrate my husbands and brothers birthdays. The location was a bit obscure directly off the highway and hidden by trees but once we found the place (with just a quick call to the rental group!) the check in was painless. Don’t let the outside fool you once we walked in the living area was spacious and the kitchen was ready to be used ! It was a quaint cabin vibe for sure! The bathrooms were clean the outside was beautiful the only issue was that the patio door didn’t have blinds (we didn’t mind as the backyard is fenced and covered in trees!) we felt very safe and our kids loved it! The walk to the beach was quick - however we were not expecting the multiple steep staircases down to the beach! It was all worth it to get to the white sand beach- which was practically empty even on 75 degree days! We are definitely going to be going back!

136 stair steps to the beach each way!!
Very comfortable & nice! My only negative comment is it is exactly 136 stair steps each way to the beach, which should be clearly communicated in the listing! The beach was beautiful & worth the trek however.

Hard to find property!
Location was good, once I found it. Better directions would have been appreciated. ( turn into retail property - Adirondack chairs-then turn left into property driveway) Listing location of lockbox as on the gate at the right side of property. No garbage cans or instructions of where to put garbage. Hot water heater took several hours to warm up. All our showers the first night were COLD! Not appreciated!!!!! Kitchen was well appointed! Overall a good stay once we got past the initial issues. Clear communication would have made it easier. Management company turning on water heater would have eliminated cold showers.

Great location!
This house was a short walk to the Lakeside public beach. The beach was great and not crowded. We used a wagon to cart everything to the top of the stairs and then carried everything down to the beach. We'll definitely be back next year!

Very nice accommodations!
The house was very nice and we had no trouble during the stay. The house is comfortable, nicely stocked with kitchen items, towels, etc. Just a few negative issues. The house is close to the highway and railroad tracks, so there is some noise. The community beach is described as a 5 minute walk....it doesn't include the steep stairway to get there, so beware if you have mobility issues. All that being said, our group would definitely book this location again. Close to many things to do and the house is worth the money we spent!!

Old-time Charm
This little house was perfect for our stay. My husband and I spent the weekend with our good friends and our dog. The layout was perfect! There is a primary bedroom suite on one side and two smaller bedrooms with another bathroom on the other side with the living space in the middle. There is a nice sized table for games and gathering for dinner. The deck was spacious and they have a lovely back yard. The RedArrow Highway and one or two trains per day added a some noise, but it didn’t bother us. A short walk down the street put us at the beach (lots of stairs down to the beach). Dogs are welcome on the beach and everyone we encountered was so nice! It’s also a great neighborhood to walk around or bike up and down Lakeshore Drive. We will book this place again.
