This is Hooked on Calcasieu, our magnificent lakefront cabin on the Intracoastal Canal at Devils Elbow, 3 miles north of Turners Bay at the North end of Calcasieu Lake. Some of the best saltwater fishing and crabbing on the entire earth can be found here. Calcasieu Point, the largest boat launch in the area, is just 3/4 mile away.
We've looked, and there's not a better lake cabin to be found in the Lake Calcasieu area. Our cabin is located on a waterfront peninsula surrounded by water on three sides. We have a boathouse on the north side of our house where you can moor your boat when you aren't on the water.
This 3BR/2BA home can sleep up to 8 people. The living room, kitchen and dining areas are spacious. There are windows all around the living room where you can take in the sunsets and huge barges passing by. You gotta see the big barges passing by. They are quite a spectacle.
Since the cabin is on pilings, it makes a nice shaded area underneath where you can have yourself a crawfish boil, a crab crackin', or an oyster shuckin'! Please be mindful to boil outside of the shaded area so that the moist vapor from the boil doesn't condensate on the underside of the cabin.
Unbeatable crabbing and fishing can be found in the area which is why several well known charter services leave out right from where the cabin is! Look through our pictures, and you'll see some of the fantastic catches we've had.
Please note that there is a boat lift on the property that is for owner's use only, and the owner will likely have his boat hanging in the boathouse. There is a boat slip right next to it that you're welcome to moor your boat to.
We our proud to offer you Hooked On Calcasieu and hope that your stay is just the beginning of many!
A note about the water conditions on Lake Calcasieu: The high and low tides are dramatic. Many times during low tide you are neither able to get your boat in or out of the camp. Be mindful of this as you may find youself in a place you don't want to be. This is not just true of the cabin, but all of Lake Calcasieu. The waterways on this lake are for boaters who know what they are doing. To boat on Lake Calcasieu is to know how to navigate in harmony with high and low tides.
