Please note that access to this home does require a 4WD vehicle during the winter season. The neighborhood roads are not always completely plowed when a storm is occurring, so it is very important to drive cautiously and to be prepared. For nights "out on the town", the mountain does offer "Uber" like services if needed however they are limited. The best option for this would be the RIDE service; be sure to call ahead. Even though most shopping/entertainment/dining is relatively close by, it is all located off of one of our main highways so you will need to drive.
Lake Arrowhead Village is 4.5 miles away or about a 12 minute Drive. Blue Jay Village is 3.1 miles away or about a 12 minute Drive. The home has a gas fireplace in the Living Room, please DO NOT burn real wood in this fireplace. The game room has a wood-burning fireplace you can burn real wood in. Wood is not provided but can be purchased locally.
We highly recommend carrying chains/cables with tensioners during the winter. CalTrans will have chain checkpoints and require you to show them or in some cases put them on. to be allowed up the mountain.
The BBQ is propane, propane is not provided, but if some is left by a previous guest it may be used or exchanged locally.
*Due to COVID-19* The Mountain is experiencing a propane shortage, and you may have a hard time finding propane locally on the Mountain.

IN THE WINTER:
Please note that due to the house not being insulated, as it’s a cabin built in 1971, our central heat only works so well. To properly heat the bedrooms, please make sure vents are open and close the doors to trap in the heat. Use the fireplaces to help heat the main living spaces, as well as the using the furnace. The coldest room in the house is the basement. This room is ground-level and can get cold. If you set the thermostat temp to 75 or 95, it won’t ever reach those temps due to the tall a-frame ceilings. Please be mindful of the amount of energy being used and turn it off when not in use.
***Bring your own firewood to use in the wood-burning fireplace in the basement will help heat that floor
***Make sure to bring warm clothes
IN THE SUMMER:
Please note that due to the house not being insulated, as it’s a cabin built in 1971, our central AC only works so well. To properly cool the bedrooms, please make sure vents are open and close the doors to trap in the cool air. Use the Upstairs “Quite Cool” vent to dispel any trapped heat, as that top floor can get hot. Using that and the AC at the same time will produce the best results. To help cool the main living spaces, please open windows and doors in the evenings (but turn AC off) to produce the best results. The coldest room in the house is the basement. This room is ground-level and will stay cool even on the hottest nights. If you set the thermostat temp to 55 or 60, it won’t ever reach those temps due to the tall a-frame ceilings and open concept house. Please always be mindful of the amount of energy being used and turn it off when not in use.
**We always have extra portable fans in the house to keep cool
This home does not allow pets. Service dog fraud is a crime. CA Penal Code 365.7 Punishment may be up to a maximum penalty of $1,000 per instance and up to 6 months in jail. Please note that service animals are defined by the ADA as: Dogs that are individually trained to do worker perform tasks for people with disabilities. Service animals are working animals, not pets. The work or task a dog has been trained to provide must be directly related to the person's disability. Dogs whose sole function is to provide comfort or emotional support do NOT qualify as service animals. under the ADA. Any attempt to present a comfort or emotional support service animal or pet as a service dog is fraud.
When the home is not rented and occupied, the home is owner occupied, including with a family member who has severe pet dander allergies. By not having guests with pets in the home we also assure guests with serious pet dander allergies, asthma or other serious health issues may also book this home, so we are unable to accommodate pets. Additionally, homeowner’s insurance is inordinately high for vacation rentals, and limited, particularly in this region, a fire zone. The policy on this home is expensive and does not allow dogs, regardless of breed. Regardless, the law requires any request for a reasonable accommodation to be made in advance, so if you feel your circumstances reflect an exception, you must contact us to discuss before renting so we can assess on a case by case basis. Your animal will be required to leave if you do not proceed accordingly and demonstrate the need for a reasonable accommodation exists. Our agency has homes that permit dogs and we can give you resources and leads for other rentals able to accommodate you.
Please be mindful Airbnb must abide by the Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA) regarding what qualifies as a “reasonable accommodation” and one must consider some individuals need accommodations regarding service dogs and emotional support animals, while others, also protected under the FEHA. In other words, you should not interpret any Airbnb language allowing service animals and ESA dogs as automatic approval to access to all homes. Again, you must discuss your request for accommodation in advance.
There is a House Manual in the home.
