The kitchen has a granite counter top with beautiful cabinets, microwave, large toaster oven, hot plate, electric skillet, rice cooker, blender, coffee maker, and of course, a fridge. It's well-stocked with cooking utensils, silverware, and dinnerware.

We have a 50 inch flat screen TV in the living area.
There's a nice round oak table with 4 chairs and a full sized sofa sleeper (if you have more than 4 people in your party). Awesome concrete stain floors, easy to clean, in case you bring some sand in with you.

The bathroom is a good-sized and is loaded with bath and beach towels.

Access to washer and dryer in back house if needed. Keyless entry. Guests will have wireless internet. Boogie boards and snorkels are around to borrow. I teach tennis and you are welcome to borrow tennis rackets and balls as well.

Our street is 1/2 way between the beach and the mountains. About 400 yards from Hukilau Beach and on the way to many hiking trails such as Laie Falls. The Polynesian Cultural Center is close as well as BYU Hawaii and the LDS Laie Hawaii Temple.

The Bus is on Kamehameha Hwy right in front of Hukilau Beach. Walking distance to the beach and Laie Shopping Center.

Just okay on a budget.
The location is in a predominantly Mormon community. NOTHING is open on Sundays. No alcohol can be bought at the stores, so plan accordingly. It is a very quiet neighborhood near PCC and the north shore. Check in was easy do not anticipate early check in. Parking is tight. Larger vehicles may have a problem. Property has very few kitchen amenities. Beds and pillows are not the most comfortable. Restroom is nice. The shower head is a little tricky to turn on. You will be sent a picture on how to operate. Air conditioner is large enough to keep the entrance/kitchen and living room cool but bedrooms will be warm. Master bed fan was not operable. My biggest con was the noise. The property is shared with presumably a young family. The walls are very thin and you can hear loud banging coming from upstairs, including very early hours. I was awoken at 3:40a with constant banging. Otherwise, this rental is in a great location near the north shore and PCC.

Great place to stay!
We were looking for a place to stay that would be budget friendly and in a good location to explore the North Shore. This fit both requirements really well. The fact that towels, snorkel equipment, and a washer and dryer were supplied were a great help! Fantastic location, great communication with owner, and an overall wonderful experience.

Excellent Stay
The Banana Bungalow was a great little place to stay. It was perfectly situated for the area we needed on the North Shore and was great. Martha is great to work with and more than flexible. We would definitely stay here again.

Perfect location for off the Beach
Perfect location for off the Beach... it’s a short walk to the beach which is one of the most beautiful beaches on island. Amenities are good, AC was great, two bedrooms one bathroom was good space for the two of us- adult and my daughter. Overall a good experience.

Best Choice on Island
We needed a place to stay while our home was being tented. I searched the entire island (since location was not an issue) for somewhere that could accommodate a senior, two working adults (online), a teenager (17), a child (10), a dog, and a turtle. This place is affordable, safe (neighborhood), convenient (daughter went to the beach & hiking & park), we got groceries (2 min by car), take out food (2 min by car), seamless internet, and had all the comforts of home. We did bring an extra roll of toilet paper, which by the way, you should always carry when out of the house. We brought some other things from home (paper towels, shampoo, soap, dish soap), we actually did not need, but used to keep costs down for the owner so she can keep this offering as affordable.

Good location
You can walk to Hukilau Beach in 5 minutes, sharks cove and 3 tables beach are about 20 minutes away by car. Accommodations we're fine but house needs some TLC. Biggest complaint would be that the window unit was so loud that you couldn't hear the TV or take a phone call. We ran out of toilet paper and paper towels also but luckily it was on the last day.

Well furnished with amenities but issues
The property has many items which are helpful including washer/dryer, coffee, suntan lotion, dinnerware, shampoo, beach chairs and snorkels, etc. The beach equipment is in poor condition - but it is well equipped. The problems are that the washer/dryer and wall air conditioner are very noisy. The couch is dirty. The couch and beds are uncomfortable. The house has an upper level above the rental unit and the owner's children will run around on the upper level causing noise in the unit. The area has wild chickens - so you will hear the roosters at all hours. The location is good and near a very nice beach.

Exactly what we needed
Banana Bungalow was perfect for our two night stay in Laie. The accommodations were simple but clean and comfortable. We felt right at home. Everything we needed was available. We were walking distance from the best breakfasts in town and a 5 minute drive from PCC. We enjoyed being in the center of the community, away from crowds of tourists. It gave us a feel of the real Hawaiian life. I would definitely stay here again.

Charrming place to stay on the North Shore.
My family really enjoyed this place. My boys enjoyed walking down to Hukilau Beach, and up to the temple. It is right next to a park with basketball courts and lots of grass. Two of my boys had taken their baseball mitts, so it was the perfect place for them to play catch. Laie is a great small town away from all the hustle and bustle in Honolulu. Martha was great and very accommodating. I would definitely recommend this place if you're looking to get away and enjoy the North Shore. There is also a great little café down the road.... Hukilau Café, wonderful food at a great price .
