DON'T TAKE ANOTHER VACATION TO THE SAME OLD PLACE!!!!! COME TO THE FRENCH CARIBBEAN !!!!!!!

COME TO MARTINIQUE! GO SURFING AT THE BEST SPOT ON THE ISLAND AND HIKE IN OUR NATIONAL PARK, VISIT THE ISLAND AND DRIVE THE BEST ROADS IN THE CARIBBEAN!!!!!!

**** FLY TO OUR BEAUTIFUL ISLAND VIA AMERICAN AIRLINES OR AIR FRANCE FROM MIAMI FLORIDA - OR FLY INTO PUERTO RICO ON YOUR WAY HERE********

Our comfortable apartment is now available for rent here on the beautiful island of Martinique in the French West Indies. ###For larger groups, two couples etc. 2 apartments can be rented together, which are linked by wood decking.### You'll love the Beaches right in front of the property, surfing, hiking in the national park, and just seeing this beautiful island can be done from our location.

While you are here at Surfside Studios you can enjoy the super comfortable studios apartment with a beautiful tropical garden, the tranquility of being on a tropical island in the middle of the Caribbean, a shared saltwater pool, and a gorgeous white sand beach just 30 steps away (I measured them personally!) Not to mention all of the island to see. The winter season is approaching and I don't have to tell you that it is nice and warm here, absolutely no snow!!!

WE PROVIDE DAILY ITINERARIES WE THINK ARE A GREAT CHOICE WHEN SEEING AND DOING THINGS ALL AROUND MARTINIQUE. WE'LL MAKE SURE YOU GET ONE TO ENHANCE YOUR EXPERIENCE HERE.

We have just totally refurbished the apartment with a new kitchen , and brand new appliances as well as all new kitchen accessories !!!!!!

It is super comfortable and functional. There is plenty of square footage, decking, and yard space to move around in.

It is super comfortable and functional. There is plenty of square footage, decking, and yard space to move around in. You will love the salt water pool as well as the view of it from the house. The pool is surrounded by a mix of red wood decking and clay tile, and flowers galore.

Come and experience a taste of France in the warm Caribbean. Part of the Windward Island chain and nestled between the islands of St. Lucia and Dominica, it sits about half way between North and South America, and is served by many major airlines.

Far away, yes but home to one of the best infrastructures in the Caribbean, as Martinique is still a French Department and benefits from that relationship. As a result we have great roads, hospitals, doctors, supermarkets, (with French foods and wine), and bakeries 5 minutes away for breakfast treats.

In our small village of Tartane there are tiny grocery stores, a gas station, several restaurants and cafes and some small marches where you can buy local fruits and vegetables. You can also buy fresh fish daily caught by the fisherman of the village.

It is located at the very tip of the peninsula we call the "Caravelle" which is the French name used to describe the ships used by Christopher Columbus who discovered the island in 1502.

Directly in front of the house is our beach which we call "Surfer's Beach", and as you can see from the pictures of the surf, it is a name well chosen, although it is not the only surf spot on the island. There are several other spots on the east coast and others on the northwest. In May of 2015,16 and now in 2017 Martinique has hosted a WQS surfing event at the surf break of Basse Pointe where some of the best surfers in the world competed. There is also a SURF SCHOOL within walking distance where you can learn to surf and if you already know how you can rent boards there.

Directly east, a few steps away, is the largest nature preserve on the island where you can hike and explore, visit secluded beaches, and discover the Light House with a view that will take your breath away and the Chateau Dubuc, the ancient ruins of farming family pioneers, who at one time owned the entire peninsula where they produced sugar cane for export to Europe.

There are hikes for all levels in the preserve from 30 minutes to 3 hours.

For hiking nuts, Mount PELE awaits to the north. It sits at an altitude of 1397 meters and is well known for its eruption in 1902 that destroyed the capital (at the time) of St. Pierre killing 30,000 inhabitants. Hikes near the volcano can range from a few hours to all day depending on your stamina. It's an unforgettable day trip.

You must also visit the current capital of historic Fort de France where there are shops like Roger Albert, and others as well as impressive sights to see. One is the Schoelcher library, designed and built by Gustave Eiffel the constructor of the Eiffel tower.

To the south are the beautiful beaches of Diamant and St. Anne offering a less mountainous version of Martinique, and white sand beaches. To the west are the black sand beaches of the Caribbean side of the island, and the town of St. Pierre, with all its history and volcanic ruins from the turn of the century.

****Christopher and Sylvie are always available for help with questions about where to go, what to do, and just about anything else you my need help with.

A perfect spot
This is a lovely place, picturesque and surrounded by flowers and greenery in a great location cery close to the beach. The hosts are truly wonderful people, easy to deal with and quick to respond. Wonderful and memorable
We had a wonderful stay at the studio. Sylvie and Christopher are very generous and discret. The location is excellent to acces the national park and the trails. We have access to a shared pool with the owners. The location is also very interesting to acces the "surf beach" a few steps down the street. The only thing was that I was confused when I reserved. I red it was a 3/2.5 house. In the reveiw, you can red that some people had acces to the room upstairs. It is not the case anymore. The location is a well equiped but small studio with a kitchenette.

Wonderful
Absolutely loved staying here for a week. Did a solo vacation to somewhere I’ve never been. Sylvie was so incredibly kind and helpful, she gave so many tips about where to hike, eat and visit. The studio was so close to the beach it was nice to get to walk down and spend time on the sand or relax in the backyard area. The location was central to all the activities Martinique has to offer. I would love to come back again in the future to explore more. The lighthouse and cove are must visit spots very close to the house.

Superb vacation all around!
If you are considering visiting Martinique, look no further! Our family of five just returned from an absolutely wonderful vacation. Sylvie and Christopher were friendly and welcoming, had great advice, and were just a pleasure. Rue du Surf is a charming beachside community, very safe, with plenty of happy surfers. Their home is beautiful - updated kitchen, well maintained, private back yard with a pool and colorful landscaping and just a very comfortable place to relax and enjoy. There are two bedrooms on the main floor (queen and one with two twins) and a master suite with a king size bed and it’s own bathroom upstairs with brilliant ocean views. It is the best location to Tartan’s well known surfing beach - less than 100 yards before you touch the water, with a surf shop three doors down that offers lessons. We were also pleasantly surprised to hear that the property abuts a national park, with a delightful network of trails including one to a lighthouse with breathtaking views. When you visit, be sure to rent a car. Once at the house, outdoor activities can all be reached by foot but a car is needed for shopping and there is a dedicated parking space. If you have never visited Martinique, the roads are better than many areas of mainland US - much better than other Caribbean islands. Hope this review persuades you to consider a visit, send our new friends in Martinique a warm bon jour, and have a wonderful stay!

Privacy With All of the Amenities
My wife and I stayed at Surfside for our honeymoon and we weren't disappointed. The house had abundant amenities including air conditioning, pool, beach access, and walking distance to two restaurants. The hosts speak English, which is a tremendous help for American travelers who may be lacking in French language skills. Overall, it was a great stay and I would recommend it to anyone visiting Tartane.

The Place Is Epic!
This house was amazing. My favorite VRBO I property I have ever stayed in. Everything in the house worked perfectly. The A/C's, the plumbing, the electric, and everything else you can think of. When we arrived the house was completely spotless. Cleaner than my own house. I mean sparkling clean. The beds are very comfortable. The decor and ambiance is stunning. Luxury surrounded by nature. I personally loved the location. It is about a 30 second walk to the beach. There is super fun surf in front of the house. Plenty of different waves to chose from. The town of La Trinite is an adorable town. Several great restaurants to dine at. Sylvie and Chris are wonderful hosts. The helped us late at night find the house when we were arriving. They made sure we knew where to go, what to do, and if we were comfortable. I have thought about Martinique every day since we have arrived home. I cannot wait to go back.

Beautiful Home in Martinique
We stayed at this property for 6 days in March 2018. The home is clean, maintained and well-appointed. A large deck with dining and seating areas is easily accessible from the living room and kitchen of the home through wide doorway which creates an open-air feel that is perfect for a beachfront experience. Each of the three bedrooms are served by powerful and quiet air conditioners to provide a comfortable sleeping environment. The beach is accessible from a footpath that is steps away from the home. I believe this is one of the nicer beaches on the island: it is large, clean and free from seaweed, which seems to plague some other beaches on Martinique. The homeowner, Sylvie was great. She was resident on the property, in a downstairs apartment to the home, but was in no way obtrusive. She was available (and helpful) if we had questions about the local area, but otherwise you would not know she is there. Overall, I felt this was perfect house for my family's beach escape to Martinique, and I would recommend it to anyone.

Delightful, relaxing respite
We stayed five nights in January 2018--it was our first time in Martinique, and we thoroughly enjoyed both the house and surrounding area. The house was wonderful--quiet neighborhood, with a modern, fully equipped kitchen, and a pool where we enjoyed daily morning swims. The outdoor area was particularly inviting, with a spacious dining table and hammocks--we were tempted just to stay home and soak in the ambience. But we found lots to do outside--a small beach popular with local surfers was within walking distance, as was superb hiking in the Caravelle Nature Preserve. A car is necessary for exploring other parts of the island--in the nearby village of Tartane, we had a delicious lunch at one of the outdoor cafes lining the main street; we didn't make it to what looked like a great fish market in Tartane but enjoyed the outdoor market in Trinite. Also thoroughly enjoyed a day of kayaking and swimming that we booked through Robert's Kayaks in Pointe Rouge. Sylvie and Christopher were warm, welcoming hosts and generous with advice on outings and restaurants, to say nothing of sharing the delicious fruit from their yard. Highly recommended!

Loved everything about it!
The roar of surf. This lovely house, separated from the beach by 50 yards of national forest and on a shallow beach over which water is constantly coursing, lets you always hear the ocean. The house is well laid out, fantastically equipped for cooking and spotlesslessly clean. The weather in Martinique is so nice that there are no glass windows in the kitchen and livinging room, just big openings that you close with shutters at night. Sylvie and Christopher are lovely people and great hosts. This part of Martinique is not crowded and is great for hikers and surfers. It also has many very good restaurants nearby, as well as nice fresh marketing in Tartane and Trinite. We loved everthing about the House and the Island and will definitely be back. The consensus highlight was sailing from Galion Bay to Treasure Bay for snorkeling and lunch. The Norwegian flights from the U.S. make this destination newly convenient.

Wonderful Family Vacation
Our stay at Sylvie and Christopher's beautiful house was wonderful! They were very friendly and attentive hosts during our stay. The house is beautifully decorated and only steps from a beautiful beach which is great for children and surfers alike. My children also loved the pool and grounds. The gourmet kitchen had everything you could need to prepare wonderful meals. Our family loved the outside patio/dining room as it was perfect for meals and just relaxing. We cant wait to come back!

Martinique Profunde!
We loved our stay in this Presqu'ile de la Caravelle property, newly renovated and private. We called it our "home at the end of the world," way out on a peninsula far from the busier tourist destinations in Martinique. One of the Caribbean's great surfing beaches is a few minutes' walk downhill, and good hiking trails just up the road. Sylvie and Christopher could not have been more gracious hosts--they were attentive and friendly without being intrusive, and had some good ideas on local restaurants and places to visit. The property itself is impeccably clean and well-appointed, with a unique loft master bedroom up a ladder-stair (not for the infirm or over-served). But this place is really all about the expansive outdoor spaces--a large dining table, living area, hammocks and pool--where we spent all our time. Be aware that you are not in a densely-populated resort area--it's a healthy drive on twisty roads to visit these places. But if you are looking to get away from it all in a place of natural beauty, this is the property for you.

Beautiful house, great location, amazing hosts!
The house was exactly as described, if not better! The outdoor space is perfect for enjoying Martinque's weather and the house is big enough that you don't feel cramped (there was six of us - two couples and two friends). If anything is missing, Sylvie and Christopher are there to provide it. They are around if needed (in an apartment below the house) but not overbearing, always generous and gracious. The location can't be beat. Tartane is a lovely and authentic fishing village. A small superette (a bigger grocery store is a short 20-30 minutes drive away), bakery, local coffee roaster, restaurants and fish market are five minutes drive away. You can walk in two minutes to beautiful Anse Bonneville. Super quiet during the week, with only a few surfers enjoying the waves (ideal for beginner/intermediate surfers). We all thoroughly enjoyed the house and would gladly stay there again! Thank you Sylvie and Christopher for an awesome stay!

Perfect!
We agree with all the great input from previous reviews and will try to add to them. Chris and Sylvie are wonderful. Norwegian Air excellent from JFK. Book as early as possible for best fares. Suggest making seat reservation. Rental car reservation is a must - see Trip Advisor forums for good tips on who to rent from. We used Budget and have no complaints. House wifi may be slower than what you are used to. Neighborhood walking distance restaurant (named 'Lighthouse') closed Sunday & Monday. Mamy Nounou restaurant - recommend reservation so plan accordingly. Need car. Coco Beach Cafe restaurant - another good one on adjoining beachfront by car only. Don't underestimate eating at home - fresh ingredients, French wine and great ambience! We felt the neighborhood was very safe; built on a hillside roundabout so no through traffic. The only 'noise' you hear is the wonderful sound of crashing waves 24/7. Hiking trails mentioned are outstanding. You can do as little as 40 minutes to lighthouse roundtrip (a must) or 3 hours around the whole peninsula. We drove to the trailhead; starting from the house would add extra time and is not as enjoyable since many cars may be driving past you on the dirt road heading for the trailhead. Early morning weekdays (7am) good as weekends and mid day can be crowded and hot. If you are an avid runner you will love these shady trails. Activities on our trip - Montagne Pelee, Les Gorges de la Falaise. See Trip Advisor for details.

THE place to be on Martinique!
Sylvie and Christopher's three bedroom house looks brand new, just like the photos, and is in a great spot to enjoy the swimming and surfing beaches of the Caravelle peninsula, as well as the hiking trails in the nature reserve which starts five minutes from your door. The beds are very comfortable, the kitchen so well equipped that we ate nearly all meals at home, and the pool just great with no chemical or chlorine odor at all. The hosts are available for questions or suggestions, without being intrusive at all. Sylvie even sent us home with some of her homemade "cherry" jam to spoon in our rum for a sweet cocktail. We highly recommend their home for your Martinique vacation!

Great house in a great location
This beautiful house is located in a quiet corner of Martinique, close to a surf beach that, at low tide, is also great for kids. It's a also short drive to restaurants, boulangerie, a market, etc. The house is very comfortable and well equipped with everything (appliances, bakeware, etc. ) one would need to prepare meals at home. The owners are very kind and helpful and the home, pool, and grounds are in excellent condition. We had a very pleasant stay and would highly recommend this vacation rental !!!
