Even better than expected
This property is absolutely stunning - it is even more breathtaking, and feels even larger, than the photos in the listing.
Not only are there ample bedrooms, they are massive and many have multiple beds so they can be configured in multiple ways. There are also far more common spaces than I realised, and plenty of indoor and outdoor dining and cooking options. Additionally, there is covered parking which is key in the southern France summer heat.
Importantly, the house is also situated on a large vineyard, amongst many other vineyards. So if you would like to change things up from enjoying the house or lounging by the pool, you can take a walk or run amongst the grape vines, which is breathtaking.
I'd also like to complement the host - our large group had extensive issues in our travels due to cancelled flights and trains. This meant we missed our expected check in by many hours, and the primary guest was not able to do the check in. However, Thierry and his local host were fabulous in terms of accommodating this, and were both reachable and flexible. This is such a rarity with homestays - not to be underestimated.
The house kindly provides some key items in the kitchen, however, note that you should plan to bring your own shampoo and shower supplies (this is common in Europe). The house is also quite cool at night even if hotter during the day, especially with windows open, given the stone structure. Guests who like to sleep especially chilly may wish to choose to sleep on the lower floors, as they have more windows and seemed to be a bit cooler.
All around - this stay exceeded my expectations. My only regret is that due to our plans, I did not get as much time by the pool and around the house as I would have liked! Would absolutely stay here again if returning to the area with a large group.
