My husband and I needed to stay in a budget hotel for 2 nights. This was ideal. As other reviewers have said, it was not so easy to find the hotel inside Chungking Mansion - we had to ask where the E Block was. Check-in was very quick, but then our actual room was in another area, so the staff lead us back down the elevator to another block inside the building. We believe this is because the hotel had overbooked. For information, Chungking mansion is a big indoor market, full of Indian / Pakistan curry eateries and electronics stores. Very multicultural. This did not bother us. We did not feel unsafe at all. As other reviewers said the wait for the elevator is quite long, as they are very small, and in high demand - it is a very busy area. There are loads of tourists from all over the world. Once in the room, (yes, it was very small, but that's Hong Kong!) we were quite comfortable. We booked a double room, and the bed was small. We are small people, so if you are a larger couple, you might want to book a twin room or triple or even family room. The room was extremely clean (and I am fussy!) It is newly refurbished. Had a mini fridge but no microwave. We ate curry for breakfast downstairs. Can also buy Turkish pizza and even some sandwiches. There was no bottles of water, but the manager said we had unlimited access to the bottled water in the foyer (adjacent to room), so we filled up a couple of small saved water bottles each night.
