I just stayed for a week conducting research and had a great stay. The owner, Ben, and staff are wonderful people and I consider them friends now. The room & bed was clean and comfortable and solid WiFI was available at the eating area (helpful for those working). The in-room AC unit helps A LOT in the humid climate. The food, particularly dinner, is tasty and a great deal for the quality you get. Unlike places in more populated areas, if you're lucky, you'll see endangered species here like white-crowned hornbills that try to break your window or slow loris - a rare middle of the night visitor, or more common species like the civet, fruit bats, or Asian water monitor. It's wildlife though, so don't expect to see anything, Lots of mosquitos (it's Borneo, bring great bug spray), and the staff did not hesitate to make the place comfortable and keep the bugs away by turning on the fans and burning mosquito repellent.
A few minor details to note. The bathroom can smell like a vault toilet sometimes. Problem is solved by closing the bathroom door, but can be annoying and a drag. Also, the village of Bilit is a Muslim one, and morning prayer occurs around 445am. It's not very loud from the Lodge, but some folks might wake up due to the low frequency of the sound. I did some days when the AC wasn't running.
Overall, nice place and I'd stay again.
