Kuhio Shores, our 'Jewel on the Sea,' on Kauai's Gold Coast. When we first walked into what was to become our new home in Kauai, the views of the ocean, coastline, and lush green hills and palms took our breath away! Located on Lawai Beach or Beach House Beach (there are different names for this beach), it is rated the best snorkeling beach on Kauai by 'Sunset' magazine. A dive site and intermediate snorkeling reef is right below our lanai, and three famous surfing spots front the south side of the building. We can watch turtles feed below the lanai and see blowholes out in the distance. On the other side of the building is where we first learned to snorkel, next to one of the best restaurants in all of Kauai, the Beach House. It is known for its view which will be your view! Our oceanfront, one-bedroom condominium, #305 at Kuhio Shores, exceeds our dreams!
If you are on your honeymoon, wish to recapture the romance in your relationship, or want to experience the awesome beauty and serenity of this 'Jewel on the Sea' by yourself, with your family or friends, this is the ideal home for you when vacationing on the Garden Island of Kauai. Kuhio Shores is closer to the ocean than any other condo or resort on the entire island of Kauai, with beach access. Learn to snorkel by the Beach House, on the west side of the building (teaming with fish; over 650 varieties in Hawaii!), then get into the water below our lanai to snorkel or dive with turtles! On the south side of our property, relax on the grass and watch surfers (little kids will amaze you!) and spot whales in winter. Right here, are three of Kauai's premier surf spots: PK'S, Acid Drops, and Centers.
In our completely private, third-floor condominium (4 floors total), the only thing you hear is the crashing of the waves. As soon as you enter, your eyes go out to the ocean. You have unobstructed views from the kitchen, living room, dining room, bedroom and, of course, the lanai.
Remodeled for the most discriminating guest, our home reflects the Hawaiian tropics. Comfort, beauty and a clean environment are our priorities. We are following CDC guidelines for disinfecting our home before your arrival. Bamboo floors glisten in the light of the morning sun. Finishes in tropical greens and earth tones, create a peaceful, clean atmosphere. Bathe in luxury in our Noccino Italian marble shower with stone accents. The kitchen features Brazilian, Verdi Peacock granite countertops that reflect the aqua of the ocean, and new stainless steel appliances. In the dining room, bamboo wainscoting and a large mirror framed in tropical wood, reflect the crashing waves, bringing the spectacular beauty of Kauai's nature inside.
The ultra-luxurious, Cal king-size bed, a top-of-the-line resort-style pillowtop, is the most comfortable bed we have ever slept on. We use high thread count sheets. Next, we take a silk-filled comforter and cover it with cool understated duvets. We add a beautifully embroidered bed scarf, making this a truly clean and blissful bed! During warmer months we rotate light-weight tropically themed quilts. Ocean breezes cool you naturally as they are pulled through the bedroom breezeway. We splurged on quiet "Haiku" fans made by the Big Ass Fan Company. They are beautiful hanging sculptures that enhance the airflow and are rated best fans on the market by CNET. Not long ago, we installed air conditioning. It is rare to find condos with air conditioning on Kauai. Because of the airflow design, air conditioning is not usually needed but we want you to be comfortable even if the Trade winds should stop.
In the living room, is a comfy contemporary queen-size pull-out couch. Two Hawaiian-style chairs with ottomans are perfect for laying back to watch the waves, listen to music, or watch cable TV. The hand-carved dining room table with rattan chairs is your exclusive seat to spot playful spinner dolphins.
On our large lanai are two chaise lounges, two soothing rocking chairs and a tall teak bistro set for distance viewing and dining, You will be so comfortable, you may not want to leave. Seeing a rainbow, or the moon shimmering over the water will create lifetime memories.
We love the arts so we collect original works of art by renowned artists that reflect the lushness and peace of Kauai. Our masterpiece is by Fred Gemmell. This large-scale abstract painting on the back of glass was at sea for a month before it arrived in our Kauai home. "Fred 'captures with complex detail and bold gestures, the amazing diversity, and adaptability of life in all its interaction and beauty..... to create a feeling of a luminous and unfolding mystery.” We are also proud to display original pastel paintings by local Kauai artist, Helen Turner, the 'Degas' of Hawaii.
If you work remotely, there is a desk and fast, secure internet at no charge. When you want to take a break, just go out onto the lanai and watch the turtles or go down and take a dip in the ocean. Come back feeling refreshed.
Because we know you are probably tired and hungry after your long journey, we give you an 'Aloha Basket' with snacks and coffee, so that you can immediately begin to relax.
Walk to restaurants, art galleries, and shops at Kukuiula, and enjoy strolling the beautiful coastal walks in several directions to the big resorts, Spouting Horn and the National Botanical Gardens, to a neighbor's fantastic bonsai collection. Across the street is a Hawaiian Holy Site with an ancient fish pond, lava stadium, and lush garden of fruit, plumerias, and bananas. Take a stroll and find a mango for the next day's breakfast.
When you stay 7 nights or more you get a 10% discount.
The 'Aloha Spirit' truly exists on the island of Kauai. We have done our very best to bring this spirit into our 'Jewel on the Sea.'
