"Very friendly owners, arrived at night there was heavy rain but got picked up from the airport promptly. Because of the weather event I couldn’t go out for dinner so they offered to prepare something to eat for me. The room is basic but clean and for the price excellent value. "

"We could not have dreamt of a better place to start our Sri Lanka trip. The place is beautiful, nested among trees at the end of a road and along the river. Our room was brand new, comfortable and colorful. The bathroom was open to the exterior giving you the impression of showering outdoor, while the Air conditioning inside keeps you cool. "Stayed 2 Nights. 1/27-28 Had a long layover in Columbo On the 28th which started at noon. "We walked in an apartment with dust and dirt on the floor, mould behind toilet door, mould on kitchen glass tray. They said this apartment was closed for some time. Housekeeping staff should be trained to check on details. Would not recommend for families who are particular about cleanliness. The management needs to take feedback seriously without giving excuses for lapses."

A beautiful traditional hotel in a prime situation

"This is a beautiful traditional hotel with lots of memorabilia from famous people who have stayed there. It is spacious and comfortable with many choices of restaurants serving a variety of foods. The only downside is in wet weather many outdoor tables/seating aren’t usable. We particularly enjoyed the high tea and watching the criminal lowering of the flag at dusk. All staff members are courteous and friendly."

"We enjoyed our stay at the Manadrina. The staff were friendly, professional and helpful and it was great to have a restaurant on site. Rooms were comfortable. The buffet breakfast had a good international selection but it would have been nice to have a larger selection of fruit. The service for fresh egg dishes probably needed more staff to better cope with demand. Overall a great stay and would stay here again "

"We stayed for two nights. ALL of the staff are BRILLIANT and looked after us really well. The room was spacious and the rain-shower incredible… probably the best I’ve had. The on-site Indian restaurant was excellent as was breakfast. Easy to walk around the area and just 5 minutes to Park Street for loads of good dining options. Wholeheartedly recommend Taj Samudra. Thank you."
