"We had an unforgettable stay at The Residence and can’t wait to return—especially our three kids, who are already asking when we’ll be back! The hotel’s beautiful gardens were a highlight; we enjoyed walking through them every day instead of using golf carts. The staff were always friendly and eager to help, making us feel right at home. The two restaurants offered excellent food with daily themed menus and live performances, ensuring a fresh and enjoyable dining experience. The complimentary watersport activities were fantastic, with the boat house crew leading fun and informative sessions. Our beach-facing luxury villa was spacious, well-decorated, and offered great privacy, especially with its private pool although the kids also enjoyed swimming and playing with other kids in the main overflow pool. The monkeys occasionally made an appearance around the villa but kept their distance, adding a fun touch. The beach, while a bit seaweedy at low tide, was perfect after 1 pm. The tour guides were professional and made exploring the area a breeze. Overall, we had a fantastic time and look forward to returning soon!"

It is advisable to prepare a well-structured budget, as there may be unexpected costs, such as the Zanzibar government tourism taxes. While prices are somewhat higher than average, which is typical for similar destinations, the quality of services provided is excellent and meets expectations."

"We had a phenomenal stay with Passion Boutique Hotel!! We stayed with them after a trip hiking up Kilimanjaro and it fitted the bill for a total chill out and recharge. The staff, food, facilities and scenery was above and beyond what we had expected. Big shout out for Madelina who really looked after us on our stay, ensuring us we had everything we need and everything ran smoothly. She again went above and beyond and our experience was fantastic. The staff in the restaurant were all fantastic, Anthony, Hassan & Anana really looked after us as well, we didn’t want to leave! We never saw the chef but the cooking was outstanding and we are missing it now when back at home. I’d highly recommend this place to anyone who is visiting Zanzibar. "

"My stay at Kwanza was amazing, stayed here for my honeymoon and my wife really loved the resort. We stayed in one of the swim up rooms which was a nice added feature. The only thing I could fault this hotel is the drainage system in the shower and sink is a bit slow to go down the drain other than that everything is 5 star. I would definitely stay here again and the staff were all amazing and accommodating. "

"A truly wonderful hotel that stands out for its friendly family feel customer service and its variety and standard of food that has so many choices for vegetarians during the 4 course meal every night. The rooms are tastefully decorated with good aircon and mosquito nets for the bed. The pool and sunbeds are well spaced and quiet and there are paddle boards to use in the sea. The treatments at the spa are varied and delivered brilliantly for a very reasonable price! I highly recommend this adults only hotel if you’re looking for peace and tranquility with an outstanding focus on you as the guest"

"We really enjoyed our stay at the Sands Resort. Each suite is actually a separate bungalow with large, comfortable rooms and wonderful AC. There is an onsite restaurant that serves all day as well as a beach bar that serves snacks/meals during the daytime. It was very relaxing to be able to have all of our meals on the property. The staff were all very friendly and professional. Everything about the staff and property was wonderful. The hotel also offers excursions. The nice thing is that they are private which entailed having a driver and tours that were just for our party. However, I would not recommend doing the "swim with dolphins" excursion because there are too many other boats doing the same thing, and we didn't feel safe going in the water with so many boats moving around quickly to try to bring their passengers close to the dolphins. So, we stayed in the boat. Also, there were no life jackets available, and it was unclear how we would get in/out of the boat without a ladder or rope; the snorkel and other equipment was old, and we didn't get a chance to try the snorkel/mask before going on the water. We also did the Jozani Forest/Butterfly excursion, which was interesting to do to see the monkeys, mangroves, and butterflies, but the price the hotel charged seemed disproportionately higher than the experience merited; please note that I say this without knowing how much the hotel paid the driver to stay with us for several hours and for the forest guide.
