Lovely cottage with living space upstairs so you can enjoy views over the valley.
Lovely cottage with living space upstairs so you can enjoy views over the valley. Cottage is kept well and wouldn’t consider it ‘tired’ as some reviews indicate. The sofas are now a nice grey, rather than the red in photos. It isn’t near any shops etc bar pubs but nothing is too far away. Try the lovely bake house born and bred at Greenodd. You won’t regret it! One thing I would flag is though dogs are allowed, they are not allowed in bedrooms (rather than just not on beds) which may be an issue for some dog owners. We only stayed 3 days but will give the review based on the small amount of time we were there. The location for us, a family of 4, wasn’t the best because it was a 20 minute drive to the nearest shop/town (Ulverston) and we had two teenaged boys in tow!! For others the rural location will have been perfect. It is situate at the end of a row of houses with very private, ample parking and a private fenced garden (which isn’t actually attached to the property so you can’t just let the dog out of the door) but with a cows field next door which was lovely! The cottage inside was very outdated in terms of soft furnishings and linen but clean enough, although it did smell of dogs (we left our dog with family on this occasion) but is a dog-friendly property. Bear in mind if you do take your dog, it cannot be left alone or allowed on the beds or sofa! The kids called it an “upside down house” which suited the rural location as you had nice views from the lounge area upstairs. The cottage is in a tiny village of Grizebeck and without shops but there is a pub serving nice food. We tried a Chinese takeaway (Lotus) from Ulverston which was average but had the best reviews. We also ate in the pub/restaurant “The Farmers” the next night in Ulverston which was very nice. We took a steam boat trip from Lakeside to Bowness which was lovely. The weather was rubbish but managed to enjoy some activities - we all enjoyed Brockhole. Millom is not worth a visit but was our nearest beach so gave it a try! Grange-over-sands was nice and about a 30 min drive away. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

Barn conversion with modern furniture in the living area, good sized dining/kitchen area.
Barn conversion with modern furniture in the living area, good sized dining/kitchen area. Downstairs one ensuite double bedroom and twin bedroom with separate bathroom. Grizebeck is a good location for exploring the southern lakes area and the village pub (The Greyhound, couple of minutes walk) did great value food. Nearest town Ulverston, 7 miles has an attractive centre with plenty of eating places. 5 miles in the opposite direction is Broughton in Furness with a good pub and bakery/café.

Absolutely gorgeous. Location is beautiful. Just 10 minute drive from Coniston Lake and 30 second walk to the nearest pub which was just lovely with lovely staff and serving food until 8pm. Beautiful cottage in a stunning location with a pub down the lane serving great food.
Beautiful cottage in a stunning location with a pub down the lane serving great food. This was our second visit, so we obviously like it. It hadnt changed in the 4 years between our visits. The sofas were just as uncomfortable as we remembered, but they look great, same crockery, but with extra chips and places like the tops of the wardrobes had the same dust, but on the whole the place was clean. No welcome wine and chocs this time.
