I just returned from a 4-day stay. The location was terrific, and I imagine that during warm weather the lovely pool and hot tub area are wonderful amenities. But ours was a Xmas-time visit. Given that there were 100s of December listings to choose from, I narrowed down my choice to those that had a fireplace. I wanted a fireplace for Christmas, and a fireplace was listed as an amenity. So I was very disappointed when I got there to see a note taped to the gas fireplace that said "Please Do Not Use." Honestly, I rejected other places with fireplaces where the listing indicated that renters could not use the fireplace. If the fireplace is not available to guests, then the listing needs to say so. It would have allowed me to make a different selection. Please also consider having potholders and kitchen towels available, and bathmats in the bathrooms would make it safer to get out of the showers. On our first day, we were literally getting hot foods out of the oven using our bathroom towels. I don't think anyone would expect to bring potholders. We did go out and buy them the next day and left them for the next guest, altho the kitchen towels now need washing. The other concern is that literally all the decking and wooden stairs outside have reached an age where they are unsafe. Pickets have fallen down all around and were in the driveway on arrival. It needs replacing. Having said that, the owner was nice to let us in a few hours early on arrival.
