Great shower
The staff were lovely but the hotel was showing its age and the carpets all smelled like they needed a really good clean - the air freshener sticks were not doing a good job of hiding it. The pool was out of action but the breakfast was fairly good. My room though was huge, the bed comfortable and likewise on the big side, and the shower was really really good - hot water and great pressure.

Good...with some areas for improvement
This hotel is a basic 3 star property, ideally located just a stone’s throw from the downtown core. It is within walking distance of several restaurants. Wifi was reasonable and the rooms are well appointed with antique furnishings. The breakfast needs improvement - I was disappointed that they did not offer a buffet. The CityBlue hotel just a block away has one of the best buffets in the city with rooftop views, and it is CHEAPER than this hotel. So, the hotel should rethink their breakfast. The rooms are quite hot and stuffy, so make sure you get a room with air conditioning. That said, the A/C is only moderately effective, because the rooms have permanently open screened windows (I could not close them). Service, however, is wonderful. The staff do try to go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and at home!

Had an amazing time at Karisimbi! Had a some slight confusion at check in and the front desk manager, Roger, was incredibly kind and gave us an upgrade. The rooms were very luxurious and big and an interesting mix of old styles and modern technology. The breakfast was very tasty and the waitress who served us every morning was so friendly and helpful. I would stay here again no doubt.

Really nice stay. Very friendly and helpful staff. Hotel not "downtown" but not a problem for us. It's a nice area with a few bars and restaurants (e.g. The Bistro and Sky Lounge).

Cost Effective Bed for a Night
Generally had no issues although the A/C didn't really cool the room. The room had direct vents to the outside that could not be closed, and it was facing a somewhat busy street, making the room a bit noisy and also limiting the effect of the A/C. The room did not have a desk to work at.

Karisimbi is good value for Money. Big and comfortable room. Centrally located in lovely Kigali. They have an ok restaurant in the house. Breakfast good. I would stay there again. The pool was closed for works, but that is probably ok again already.
