Sapphire Villa- Kingfisher Bay Resort, K'gari (Fraser Island) Qld, Australia

Our one bedroom + loft villa is surrounded by native bush land with easy access to everything the island has to offer. It is just a short walk to the beach and jetty for those beautiful Queensland sunsets.

Situated on the World Heritage Listed Fraser Island explore spectacular natural sites and sounds via tours, using your own 4WD or rent one and have your own adventure. The villa is adjacent to the award winning Kingfisher Bay resort so you can access the resorts many restaurants and sports / tours packages and expert rangers who can answer all your questions about the island.

The villa is great for couples that want that extra space and privacy that comes with being nestled in the treetops or for families with young adventurers who can navigate to the loft bedroom (The loft bedroom is recommended for children from 8+ years that can safely negotiate a loft staircase).

Enjoy a homemade breakfast on the deck or after a day exploring, enjoy the bush views with a long cold drink.

The Villa is an island retreat and sure beats glamping. We offer the best value for money in the resort. The villa is equipped with:

The resort is accessible via ferry / barge so you can bring your own or rented vehicle over. If you elect to walk on to the ferry / barge it's a simply walk on the ferry and walk to the villa when you arrive at the jetty. Book as soon as you confirm your trip so you get the time you want.

FAQ's ;
1) Where is the villa located? Once you arrive at the resort drive to the one and only roundabout and head up the hill. The second road in the right is William Edwardson Lane. Go up William Edwardson and we are the second set of villas. Go to 535 and get the keys from the lock box.

2) Is their a BBQ? Yes there is. It is a BYO bottle though.

3) Do I have to clean the villa before I leave? No but we ask guests to strip the sheets, tidy up the unit, leave the dishes washed and empty the garbage.

4) Do we get access to the resort facilities? Yes - all of them are available to you. Payable services can be charged to your credit card and the great advice from the rangers at the resort reception is excellent (and at no charge!).

5) What should I do about groceries and alcohol? We suggest you buy that on the mainland. The best place for groceries is of course in Hervey Bay but there is a Foodworks (and a bottleshop) 700 meters from the Airport. In a pinch their is IGA at River Heads for groceries only. On the island there is a resort run convenience store with a limited supply of groceries, alcohol. It also has fuel.

Comfortable stay and a good home base
Our stay at the bungalow treehouse at Kingfisher Bay Resort was comfortable and made for a great home base while exploring Fraser Island. The beds were cozy, and we loved unwinding on the balcony, which offered a lovely view of the surrounding nature. The resort’s location made it easy to access all the stunning beaches nearby. However, the treehouse was slightly rundown and the loft was not ideal for young children—it felt too unsafe for them to use, so we opted to sleep downstairs on the couch. Despite this, it was still a pleasant and convenient place to stay.

Spacious and quiet villa that had everything we needed for our 6-night stay. Great value for money. The washing machine and dryer was much appreciated! Our children (7 and 9) slept in the loft, the ladder is steep and I wouldn’t feel safe with smaller children climbing up and down. A railing attached to the wall would make it a bit safer in my opinion. The kitchen was well equipped but we felt the villa could do with a very thorough clean, the floors and kitchen cupboards looked a bit grimey but it definitely didn’t stop us from having a wonderful stay.

I would highly recommend this property. Tom our host communicated quickly when we booked last minute and he provided us with a very clean, incredible space. The only thing that this property has is its location. The unit itself is extremely dirty. The unit requires a complete makeover, there is dust and mould in most Areas. The kitchen is filthy, you cannot cook with any of the cooking appliances, they all need to be thrown in the bin. The state of the kitchen wouldn’t pass a health inspection by any means. The air conditioning is full of dust all over the filters. The lounge covers need to be thrown in the trash. The shower screen is unstable, and it doesn’t close and it is extremely dirty and has mould in all areas of the shower bath combo. On arrival the unit was apparently cleaned and on entering the unit there were ants all over the kitchen bench and we had to spend an hour cleaning the kitchen and we removed the bin to the veranda. The sliding door to the veranda was so hard to open and it was extremely heavy to even open. It requires new wheels on the door. Everywhere you looked was dirty. This unit requires a complete makeover and throughly cleaned and inspected before it should be allowed to be available for holiday rental. The owner should take responsibility in sacking there cleaners and the owner should be ashamed in allowing this property to be listed with Wotif. Wotif to protect your reputation you should inspect this property and make your own decision to see if it meets any standard. I personally do not recommend this property in its current state for holiday rental. I have taken several photos to justify review
