We enjoyed our second stay at Moon Bay. We like the area, and the property has all the amenities we were looking for. Very much enjoyed the addition of the private beach and the improved beachfront area since our last visit. Plenty of space for our children to spread out and activities to stay busy with (recreation room, outdoor games, beach, pools and docks). Our owner was responsive at check in and helped to quickly restock a few items for us upon arrival. We would certainly consider staying at Moon Bay again.
As rental property owners ourselves, we did feel it necessary to mention the state of this unit and the overall atmosphere of Moon Bay. The unit needs general maintenance; we witnessed loose trim (separated from wall), missing and broken light fixtures, towel and toilet paper bars pulling off walls, and the kitchen faucet sprayer not being functional. We did communicate to the owner upon our check-in as to what we observed; this review is not intended to be a surprise.
We were also not impressed with the overall cleanliness. There were obvious food stains in the refrigerator, dirty floors, heavily stained carpets in the master bedroom and food items/crumbs under the master bed which had cultivated a collection of small ant-like bugs that made their way into our suitcase (and home with us unknowingly).
As for Moon Bay as whole, this visit we felt almost as if we were staying at a retirement community. This was very apparent around the pool area. Individuals would save lounge chairs and tables shortly after sunrise (a direct contradiction of the rules and regulations that were provided to us) and repeat the behavior daily. We got the feeling at times that our children being present was an annoyance to some. We overheard a conversation referring to child swimmers as “froggies” and how those individuals did not like how many of those “froggies” were in the pool at times. If Moon Bay is truly intending to trend towards or cater to an older demographic, no worries, just advertise it in that manner.
