The Karsten is not a high end hotel, but if you like the vibe of an antique store, you will love this hotel. Has views of Lake Michigan and is walking distance to variety of eating and entertainment establishments.

The owner is very nice and will go out of his way to make sure you're stay is amazing. The hotel has so much history inside. Loved the decor. I really can't stress how amazing the owner is. He made our stay. He showed us the bar which is amazing with its orginal floor and stained glass.

This is an OLD hotel. I love old hotels. It has personality, character and it's own identity. It also has wear and tear. If you want boring corporate cookie cutter facilities, stay elsewhere. If you want a true travel experience, stay here.

Beautiful Quaint Hotel
If you are wanting a Holiday Inn type stay, keep looking but if you want a laid back stay with a gracious host, book this hotel. Alex is a wonderful host!! We had such nice visits with him! The front porch is so peaceful with a beautiful view of Lake Michigan!

Full of character! The history and character absolutely cannot be found at other hotels. Great value. Could certainly use some upkeep, but it is clean and comfortable. Nice proximity to the lake for a beautiful walk out to the lighthouse.

The hotel room was spacious and comfortable. There was an issue with our air conditioning and the staff changed our room right away. The hallways are quiet. Convenient street parking right in front. Don't let the lobby fool you, this is a gem.

Owner greeted us and was very friendly and chatty. The place is unique an amazing, wish we were staying longer to enjoy hanging in the lobby or the 2nd floor sitting area. Only downsides were wimpy shower output and no blinds on windows that faced east. Great AC though! Short walk to a good pub meal and super cold beers!

Poor lighting on the stairs and upper floors. Rooms ok. The hotel is over 100 years old and so is the bed and pillows. No curtains on windows. Owner very friendly and helpful. Good for a cheap over night stay.

Very interesting, old hotel. Needs a lot of work. The breakfast items were sitting out for 2 days, including the juice. Don’t eat breakfast there! The owner was very nice and accommodating although his attire and personal appearance was extremely poor. We were the only people there. Maybe the hotels lack of upkeep is why. I don’t want this hotel to see its demise because of its historic value. Not sure we’ll return. This was our 4th time there, and each time it was under new ownership and went downhill each time. Hey yall if you travel with a ton of luggage be forewarned there is no elevator but if you travel light like me this place is absolutely TOPS. Alex has the greatest customer service and loved our puppy! Gave her cheese and everything 😁 i loved the hob knob decor and vintage chairs also you gotta check out the jaguar under the glass table in the lobby. Literally a 5 minute walk to the beach and pier at lake michigan, 30 minutes from green bay, right round the corner from a cheese shop and 2 seconds away from the bowling alley which is only 3$ per 10 frames. Straight up will be coming back here anytime we come to wisconsin. 10/10
