Very easy family getaway, the kids loved the fishing. Used string cheese and caught a little perch every 5 minutes or so. Water was a little low but still very enjoyable!
Immaculate property, very clean, well provisioned, great communication from owner, quiet and secluded location, amazing clear creek teeming with fish, lots of wildlife and family fun....great family getaway!
This was one of the most beautiful properties we’ve ever stayed at. The creek was crystal clear and the views were breathtaking. We loved watching all the birds and deer from the porch. We will definitely be back!
Look forward to going back, super clean inside and out. The creek was awesome, view during the day was amazing and night time deer! They were great to watch. Well taking care of property and worth the drive and cost. Thanks and look forward to next time!
This place is a gem. We had plans to explore the area but just ended up hanging out by the water, fishing, swimming and playing with kayaks and paddle boards all day. One of the most relaxing trips we've had. We will definitely be back!
Glorious tranquil get-away! Little slice of heaven
What a magical little private oasis! We loved every minute of our secluded get away... the quiet mornings, humming birds, live water and all the kayaking and paddle boarding we could squeeze in. Definitely plan on returning! Kids ages 7 and 8 couldn’t stop talking about all the simple fun we had!
Enjoyed our stay, house on smaller side but perfectly adequate for my husband, me and three kids. The creek is barricaded just a couple houses down on both sides so a little short for kayaking but we did enjoy playing in the cool water and reading on the patio. Water shoes might be helpful as the creek bottom by the entry is a bit rocky.
Nice retreat and break for Doctor's Visit Road Trip
We stayed at Tortuga Frio on a return road trip to MD Anderson for my Dad. The property was perfect for some quality time cooking and sitting down by the water fishing with Dad. The property is well maintained, stocked with all the needed amenities and had special touches from a caring host. It is the small things sometimes; extra toilet paper, salt and pepper, coffee and a sense that the hosts want you to feel at home in their home. Thank you for sharing your home with us and helping us create memories.
Beautiful surroundings! Crystal clear water with easy access.
We spent time sitting on the porch and watching the humming birds, cardinals and squirrels. Totally private and peaceful. The house has everything you could need . Bring food and drink and you will never have to leave the property. The grandsons loved having their own bedrooms. They also loved the dependable wifi. This was our second stay at Tortuga Frio and it has become our favorite place for fun and relaxation.
My husband, two grandsons and I had a wonderful time while staying at this property. The house had everything we needed. Sitting on the porch and watching the rain was so relaxing. The creek was so clear and beautiful. My youngest grandson spent a lot of time fishing. The oldest grandson enjoyed the paddleboard. We all loved swimming. The surrounding area is breathtaking. We voted this property as our favorite place!

Fun Times on Turtle Creek
We had the best time staying at Tortuga Frio. The home was lovely and well-stocked. The owner, Lori, was very sweet and thoughtful. The property is beautiful and we did not lack for entertainment. We caught fish after fish on the dock using a fly rod and regular fishing pole. We enjoyed exploring the creek on the paddle boards and kayak—all provided by the host. The fireflies put on quite a show for us as did the hummingbirds. Lovely, lovely time.
This property was perfect for children ages 3 and 9. The swimming dock in the middle of the creek is ideal for that age. Fishing was fun for that age as most of the fish were small. Catch and release worked well. Serious fishermen will want to be on deeper water. Great lawn leading down to a nice creekside patio.
The house was cozy and comfortable and well stocked. The host was very responsive and helpful.

Outstanding
Beautiful cabin with amazing view and proximity to water. They had every amenity you could possibly need for water fun and for making you feel like you were at home. We swam, fished, paddleboarded, and spent the evenings and mornings on the porch watching birds and squirrels. We have four kids ages 9-17, and none of them were bored the whole time we were there. Our 11-year-old caught his first fish, and Mom caught a HUGE catfish! Tortuga Frio is a little slice of heaven!
We arrived to this sweet, quaint river house and were immediately greeted by hummingbirds and deer. It could not have been more perfect. The cliffs overlooking the water are beautiful
and the entire property is extremely well-kept and clean. My family enjoyed catch and release fishing off the dock, swimming in the crystal clear water, and spending time together in the peacefulness of this sweet home. The host was super friendly with many suggestions. The home itself was clean and had everything we needed and the beds were comfortable! This home had a very comforting and welcoming feel. We will absolutely be back to recharge when we visit TX again.

Perfect Getaway
What a wonderful property! The pictures don't do it justice. The porch provides an excellent spot to hang out and view the creek which is crystal clear, teaming with fish and over 7 feet deep in the middle! My kids loved the floating dock, feeding/catching the fish and hanging out in the camping themed kids' room. The Browns showed us excellent hospitality by providing a very thoughtful welcoming present as well as Mr. Brown checking up on us to ensure we had everything that we needed. This house is well stocked and has all the comforts of home. We'll be back!

Awesome Stay
Tortuga Frio is the most peaceful, beautiful get away we have taken this summer! The creek side area was so much fun and so well planned.
We really enjoyed the nature as well as the water. The house is just perfect for a family with children. It was a sensationally good time for all and we will be back. If you are looking for a vacation in the Kerrville area this is the place to stay! We were picking up a camper just up the road
and when we told the owners the reason for this stay they were so kind to offer should our camper need anything at camp prior to our stay they were close by and available to help. I don't think you find many people like that these days so on top of a wonderful facility you have exceptional owners. I hope you visit this wonderful destination soon.

Great Texas Hill Country Property
Very impressed with the cleanliness and comforts provided with this property. The house was more than enough room for my wife and I with our two children (10 and 7). The house and the views are better than the pictures provided. The views from the house, porch, and by the creek were wonderful. It was warm enough the first day for the kids to go for a swim in the creek. The fishing was great for the kids as well with non-stop action in the mornings and evenings (catch and release small perch). We enjoyed a thunderstorm one evening on the porch and woke up to turkeys in the yard the next morning. A very quick and scenic drive to Kerrville can be made as well as a short drive to Fredericksburg. Lori was a pleasure to deal with and clearly cares about the experience of her guests. We had a great time and hope to return.

A Peaceful Retreat
A nicely remodeled, cozy retreat. As others have noted, the water is beautiful, and teeming with fish. Mostly blue gill, with a few nice-sized bass, and a big ole catfish. Good-sized yard, great for the kids! Even though it's an easy drive to HEB and Kerrville in general, its location makes it seem further. No visible neighbors across the creek = a great sense of solitude. No traffic noises, plenty of birds! MINOR tweaks to consider? The family room has a love seat, but there's room (in my opinion) for a couch, which would accommodate another sleeper (2 if it was a pullout). Note that the master suite is right off the kitchen, which doesn't lend itself to the folks in that room sleeping late if others are in the kitchen. We had a blast, thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!
Time with family is so important so I offered my daughter and daughter-in-law a retreat to the hill country as a birthday getaway. Lori was an exceptional host by making sure we had great water to play in and a welcoming gift inside a lovely clean home on the creek! There were paddle boards and a kayak with oars at the ready for us to enjoy the water activities. My daughter-in-law tried out the paddle board and learned something new. My daughter decided the kayak was more her style and enjoyed doing that and they spent some fun time together on the creek. There was everything we needed and especially having a wall of windows to view the creek, cypress trees, hummingbirds, and deer was sooooo relaxing. That is what I had hoped for as these young women are mothers with children and work responsibilities and husbands and all the stress that can come with those roles in life! We got up ate breakfast there at the house but enjoyed a dinner in Kerrville at Billy Gene's. I spent some money at James Avery Silversmith because there was a terrific sale going on there! The best part of our stay was the creek activities, watching the hummingbirds, the comfortable home environment, and the many deer that stood in the front yard and ran through the backyard. Just being outside of the city environment was a great recharge for us. We even talked about returning in a cooler time to enjoy what Cypress Flats had to offer. Lori Brown took just the most thoughtful care as our host.
