Nice property. The check in process was good but there was nothing included about how to work the A/C. After searching for a thermostat for several minutes, I realized that it's controlled by a Remote Control and it was in Celsius temps so it was confusing. I finally found a video online how to change it to Fahrenheit.
The actual property was good and comfortable. No complaints. Easy to get to from Caddo State Park and Backwater Jacks.
We had a great time! The cabin was just what we needed. The screened in porch was amazing. We even took an afternoon nap there after a long day of checking out Jackson. Host was very fast to answer any questions. Will definitely stay again.
The cabin was easy to find and check in. The cabin was overall clean and stocked with towels, tp, and kitchen essentials. Bed was comfortable and plenty of pillows and blankets. The wifi is non existent and we could never connect without tethering to our phones. The porch is very large and nice. Waterfront is a bit misleading. Its really more of a very small creek that runs beside the cabin. The road leading in is very pot-holed and bumpy so this may be trouble for smaller vehicles. The neighborhood has some homes and structures that are dilapidated and are an eyesore.
My husband and I brought our toddler out to enjoy a weekend of fishing and cruising in the wildlife management area/Government Ditch. The owner helped fix a payment issue upon booking- which would have been a deal-breaker for our reservation- so we were especially grateful for that! She was also considerate enough to ask us whether or not we'd mind if their maintenance person could stop by to do a quick repair on something on the property during our stay- so kind. The house was located close to the state park, boat ramps, and areas we wanted to explore. The cabin itself had all the necessities and was decorated nicely. We really enjoyed the porch, firepit, and tributary right in the back yard. The dock is located closer to the cabin next door, and was available for use (although we didn't launch or dock there). Unanimous decision from all three of us- would definitely rent again!
Stayed here for two nights while checking out the East Texas parks and towns. Very clean! Bed is comfy, kitchen worked good, loved the kayaking and the fire pit! Owner was very responsive and polite. Would come here again!
What a Gem! The house was clean and comfortable and the screened in porch was huge! Steps to a beautiful tributary! My wife was reluctant at first about kayaking but after a little reassurance she climbed into her own kayak. It was an amazing place to kayak the cypress trees were abundant and beautiful I took so many pictures! Ten minute paddle to get to the main Bayou River…unreal! Don’t skip the kayaking it’s impressive. My only regret was I did not see an alligator my wife was relieved 😅 Thank You Deanne (host) for sharing your amazing place with all. We will be back!
The property is quaint and the owner was very responsive to our needs. She brought an extra kayak when we thought we had additional person coming. The property has a nice queen size bed and fold out sofa. In winter time I would not recommend it for more than four people but in summer time the futon on the huge deck could be useful. Overall it was small but clean and well kept. Everything worked well and the location was beautiful.
We mostly enjoyed our stay. The property was flooded which was not the owners fault at all. I’m assuming that’s what caused the septic issues. The septic aerobic system sprayed 5/6 times a day and smelled AWFUL and tub, toilet and sinks were all VERY slow to drain.
We brought our boat but there is no boat dock like it states in the description. There is a public ramp close by though. It was a bit of a pain to launch and load up each time we wanted to get on the water.
This place would not sleep 8 people unless they sleep on the floor. Two people in the queen bed and 2 people on a sleeper sofa anyone else would have to sleep on the porch on the futon or on the floor with no AC or heat.
The place was clean and cute inside for our needs We will probably look for somewhere with better boat access for next time. .
The cabin was clean. I had alot of trouble finding it as no address is given. In the middle if the night i had to fight off these big black beetles. One woke me up crawling on me.Ugg after that i couldn't sleep. I went to take a shower and the water smells do bad I just could not do it. Like rotten eggs. The cabin was clean and lovely. Little candies were out and it had complimentary coffee which I loved. Beside not being able to sleep for the beetles or the smelly water it would have been a nice stay. I did enjoy sitting on the out door patio. For what I paid, I would have been better off in this Hotel I stayed the next night in. I may question another cabin before I try staying in one again.
