Old Camp is perfect if you just need a place to crash between hiking and excursions or as a base camp before backpacking. Small simple rooms, and it’s a hostel so bathrooms and kitchen space are shared. We rarely had to wait for bathrooms/showers, except one morning when our building ran out of water so we had to go next door while they refilled the tank. Breakfast is simple but reliable. Like most places in Greenland, the host is there during daytime hours only, so if you need things after hours it can be a little tricky, but they have helpful phone numbers listed in the common area.
The person at reception was extremely helpful and accommodating. We had to change plans last minute, and she was able to help with changing both our hostel reservation and our activity reservation with Albatros.
You can easily walk between Old Camp and the airport, though it would be a little challenging with bags. We opted for the city bus which goes to Old Camp once per hour.
